Girl. Set yourself some small goals and work toward them. They don't have to be weight goals, they can be size, exercise whatever fits your needs. Those small goals will get you to the big ones.

I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Took 3 fills before I felt some satiety.

Check your clothes fit? You could be losing fat but replacing it with muscle and firming up at the same time.

Use this entire forum as your buddy.

Hi Louise, whenever the scale isn't moving I find my jeans are fitting differently -- you are doing great, just keep on keeping on.....and so glad you're seeing the surgeon to find out what's up with the fills. I am one who needed several small fills to get to my green zone. Best wishes for a great autumn!

Thankyou so much, how much have you lost ? So good to hear this is pretty normal as I don't know anyone who has been banded x

I noticed immediately how easy it was for me to get stuck and/or slime. Made me slow down, chew more and eat slower. At fill #3 I started to feel less hungry as my meal progressed. I was able to stop eating sooner and with less food. I was also able to go longer between meals without hunger.

But this is a learning process and it doesn't stop during the first few months or first year. I'm still learning how to eat slower, pay attention to what I'm doing while I eat and I'm chewing my food even more now. For many of us there's no light bulb that flashes on and suddenly we're home free. A lifetime of abusing food won't go away in just a few months.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
