Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Recommended Posts

Becky -

They have one of these beasts at the gym I belong to.

I don't call it the step mill though - I call it the 'GAUNTLET OF DEATH' !!!!

Even on a whimpy little setting of 3 (out of 20 possible) I can only go 30 minutes (at the very most) before I am so red that the people at the front desk have the phone receiver in their ear and their fingers poised over the push buttons for a quick '911'.

I wanted everyone here on the board to have an idea of how difficult a challenge you've set for yourself.

You go girl!!!!

I will cheer you on from the elliptical trainer - but I hate the step mill.

Ha! That's how I feel on the Step Mill, too. I used it (10 years ago) because I couldn't make the stepper thingy go up and down -- but I could climb stairs. Klutz r me. Believe me, I put it on the lowest setting that is actually moving in rhythm. Thanks for the encouragement. And... 30 minutes on that thing is great.

I will try the elliptical trainer at some point too. But on the stairs, I feel like I'm actually going somewhere. Maybe it should be called Jacob's Ladder or the Tower of Babel. Gauntlet of Death seems appropriate, though. ;)

Zoe,

Gee never thought about a prize.

Hmmmmm Let me see if I can find some millionare who wants to make a TV show out of this LOL and we can get Nationwide coverage. And a Million Dollar prize.

Winner with their new slender body will also be on the next Survivor Show and If they get thru that will appear on The Apprentice. If they get the job with The Donald then good for them If not and they are married we can get them on The Wife Swap program. If single we can put them on Fear Factor.

If I win I just want my entry fee to the World Series of Poker paid LOL

ok back to reality. Just win the bragging rights and my undying gratitude for pushing me thru the challenge.

I posted a prize idea on the new thread. Come on over, Lisa!

Now back to regular exercise posting.... I have been washing walls and going up and down a step ladder. That will be my exercise for the day. Phew!

Betty, are you still trotting along on the treadmill? ;)

I need a push. Or some motivation. I'm suffering band-burnout. If I don't tell you people, it might get worse. There, I said it.

Laughlin has a big river run every year, and there's a gas station there that sells cheap leather. We passed thru on our way home from Mexico and I got chaps for $24.00. Very decent for the price. Okay, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
