I'm just trying to envision this little 5' 4" woman (Betty) handling a 695 pound Harley! What a woman! And you've been doing it for a couple of years!

I feel like such a wimp with all this talk of Harleys, since I'm terrified of motorcycles. When I want to feel the wind through my hair, I open the sunroof of my car or turn up the setting on my blow-dryer.

I spent a week on vaca in Mexico and gained a solid 5 lbs. So I wasn't able to drag my butt out of bed yesterday, but I managed to do my walk this morning. Didn't do the upper body, but at least I got a 40 minute walk in.

Boy, someone keeps digging up this thread! :) I am moving all my furniture out of my living room today so we can paint and put in a wood floor. That will be my exercise for the next week. Sigh.... I will be very happy when it is done.

Regular...hmmm...as in a planned routine....hmmm...of cardiac exercise. I really must start doing that...really. :ermm

I am trying to think of a surefire way to motivate myself. I almost signed up for an exercise class at the college -- but I don't really want to exercise around a lot of 20 somethings -- I would be looking like a serious geezer.

I MUST do something soon! <Insert kick in the pants here.>

Is anyone else exhausted with this whole band/exercise thing? It's wearing me out. I want to go to lunch, I want to wear sandals, I want to be normal! (anyone old enough to remember that line?)

Normal to me is not having to think about what/when/how much we're gonna eat. Normal is my husband who stays slender and just eats when he want. Normal are my co-workers who just nibble at one cookie and feel satisfied. Normal is when you get full so you stop eating. Normal is as normal does. Normal is so damn simple.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
