Katie328 0 Posted October 12, 2004 What's everyone else up to today?? Time to check in. I am chilling at home doing as little as possible...let me ask you a question...did anyone else have thier "monthly friend" a little screwed up after surgery?? it's about a week early and extremely heavy..yikes I feel like crap...i thought maybe it was from the anesthesia or maybe losing some weight or something but good lord I'm poping 1000mg of Acetaminophen every 4 hours to keep the cramping at bay... I do have a support group meeting tonight which I'm excited about! this is my first one since being banded! My dr. has a great aftercare program so there are monthly support group meetings, and I have been telling everyone about how much I love you guys, but most have the bypass, so I'm kinda the odd ball..which is why I come home and drive all of you great people crazy with my questions!! much love! katie
DeLarla 22 Posted October 12, 2004 Here I am! I was having my Cat Scan this morning for my pesky incision that refuses to heal. I posted a thread about it. Yes, my "monthly visitor" was screwed up for a couple months after surgery. It came really early and heavy, then really late. I panicked and called my surgeon, and that's totally normal. Please - nobody mention the word "challenge" to me! No more, no way! But I will join you all for some exercise. I used the Cat Scan as an excuse not to walk, but I'll walk tomorrow. I take my dogs to the park (45 min) then I use my Total Gym. Plus I tend to get a good workout just riding my motorcycle around. I rode it all day yesterday. nightingale2u 42 Posted October 12, 2004 I'm in! I hadn't been doing the usual exercising during my bout with pain... but am trying to get back on the wagon again! Saturday my hubby and daughter and I took a 10 mile bike ride and Monday night we walked 2.5 miles. Today I spent 2 hours mowing and raking and my hubby and I will take another 2.5 mile walk tonight. I'll hopefully throw the weights in sometime this week! Thanks for starting this challenge! Darcy
live2canoe 1 Posted October 12, 2004 Darcy - shhhhhh! (we're not calling it a 'challenge' any more - we'll have to think of something else to say instead ..... any suggestions?) P.S. - good to hear you're feeling better - and nice going with all the extra curricular exercise!!
Penni60 45 Posted October 12, 2004 OH Pooh on Lisa -- it's a freaking challenge. She won the last one so who cares. LOL!!! I walked yesterday morning for about 30 min I walked this morning for about 50 min and that was 2.4 miles. Would have walked more but the rain started. nightingale2u 42 Posted October 12, 2004 Ummm.... A gentle nudge in the tushy????? Sounds pretty non-threatening to me!
DeLarla 22 Posted October 12, 2004 Penni, it's kind of hard saying no to Sachi. She follows me around every single morning, tripping my feet and singing to me till I get the leashes out. Exercise isn't really an option, it's just the only way to appease the Piggy. The first time I met Chloe, I accidentally called her Sachi. They will not be ignored! PamRN 0 Posted October 13, 2004 Ok I did it, I walked 3 miles on the treadmill, and I think my legs are now 20 pounds heavier than when I started, but I did it. Yayyy! :Bunny
Zoe 6 Posted October 13, 2004 I walked around the park for about half an hour this morning with Sophie -- also got a great upper-body workout pulling 80 pounds of that crazy dog straining on the leash trying to get to the squirrels. The pedometer is great. It's helping to keep me on track, and it's fun to see that I really do move around some at my desk job, running around to my boss's office, the secretary's office, downstairs to the Fed Ex dropoff . . . and to the kitchen, where I missed the boxes of donuts yesterday. Hey, every little bit helps!
live2canoe 1 Posted October 13, 2004 Yeah Pam!! 3 miles is fantastic!! And I'm sure that your legs are only slightly heavier, but I know they feel like lead weights!! LOL Zoe - I really to get a pedometer and a heart rate moniter. I think those things would really help me! Good to know your fur baby is getting out and about, too! I did weights for the first time since surgery today. I went very light and didn't push it too hard. It still felt good to be back - even with the wimpy weights. I did upper body today, back chest and shoulders. Tomorrow I'll try lower body. I'll let you know how I feel in the morning.
DeLarla 22 Posted October 13, 2004 Nope, I didn't meet the challenge. I must have arthritis because it takes me an hour to drag out of bed cause everything hurts every day. I didn't go for my walk because my house was a wreck. Other than the girls that cleaned the kitchen after the party, I haven't done anything, so today I scrubbed the kitchen before work. Got sweaty, so that counts.
Katie328 0 Posted October 13, 2004 Yes it absolutely does! They say housework is just as much excercize as walking around outside! That's what I did today! Cleaned the whole house and was really tired by the time I sat down! Didnt realize how the "tunes" i keep on, keep me going until I collapsed on the couch! How is everyone else doing?? Penni60 45 Posted October 13, 2004 Lisa: I understand everyting hurting syndrome. I walked alot yesterday but this morning I just couldnt' get my butt outta bed. So no execise for me today. DeLarla 22 Posted October 13, 2004 This achey hurting started about 2 years ago with my feet. I kept thinking it was "bad shoes" as I limped around. After getting banded, I figured it was just too much weight on my feet. But now it's my whole bod. What gives? Is this what Arthur Ritis feels like? For that past year, it's taking me at least 1/2 hour of lying in bed before I literally crawl out of bed. I walk like Ozzie Osbourne for about 1/2 hour before uprighting myself like modern man.
