angeldivine1 23 Posted September 23, 2014 So, I've noticed several patients saying that they've experienced Hair loss as a result of being banded. I'm wondering if I start taking plenty of Biotin BEFORE my surgery if it will help with mot experiencing hair loss. My procedure is October 17 and my pre-op liquid diet starts October 4. Thoughts or advice?
SillyAuntDi 1,610 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi there! I had been taking Biotin for a few years prior to my surgery. I still had hair loss. It's growing back like a champ right now. So, my experience is that taking it prior to the surgery didn't really make a difference. Good luck!
angeldivine1 23 Posted September 23, 2014 Thanks, that's the conclusion that I came to after doing some research. Thanks again!
deandagirl72 1 Posted September 24, 2014 ]I am over 2 years out from having the Gastric Sleeve. I was using Rogaine for a little while, but it didn't do to much. I started taking 5000 Biotin and my hair started getting thicker and growing back, but I bagan getting adult acne, so I cut down to taking the Biotin only twice a week. Now, out of no where. My hair has began falling out again in astonishing amounts and I am right back where I started. Don't know why it started all over again and just don't know what to do next. MaryV 34 Posted October 2, 2014 my doctor told me people start loosing thier hair because they dont take in enough protien. he also told me to take a good multi Vitamin they said prenatal ones work well especially if you are worried about Hair loss. i take a vitamin daily and make sure i eat plenty of protien and i have not had any problems loosing my hair yet and i really cant afford to since its thin as it is. Bandora 136 Posted October 2, 2014 I experienced Hair loss about 2 months after my surgery. After that my hair seems to be growing back as normal. I do feel it was due to the low amount of Protein because I was on pre-op diet and then was only doing liquids/mushies. Currently I take Biotin daily as well as a Multivitamin. My hair stylist was telling me that as women age we lose more hair. I just turned 45 so maybe that is due to my aging. Anyways, I chose a new hair style that I don't have to blowdry and flatiron and my hair is looking pretty thick these days.
