What kind of exercise do you all do. I know I'm going to walk bc that's my favorite. I want to make sure my butt don't go away or sag and I want to tone my arms.

I go to the gym to do the weight machines and then I also do Zumba, which has given me my stamina back!! And I also walk and I'm trying to add a bit of jogging mixed with the walking.

I am several months post-op. I only do physical exercise (hill walking) when my normal routine is lacking. A few weeks ago, I moved 60,000 pounds of gravel by hand. This entailed lifting bucked filled with gravel (70 pounds each) chest high to place it in my Gator utility vehicle and then offloading it by hand. In the last few weeks, I moved over 20,000 pounds of concrete blocks. At the age of 66, I am impressed by the fact that bariatric surgery has been able to restore my stamina to the level I was when I was 35.

I alternate days of cardio and weights. On cardio days I usually do a session of Zombies, Run 5k training -- a couch to 5k program. It's about 45-55 minutes of run/walking. Starts with very little running (15 second intervals). It's a lot of fun and I'm signed up for 2 5ks to see if it really works! :)

I hired a personal trainer and work with her once a week to learn the right types of weight lifting to help me get the results I want. I also work out 2-3 times a week in between those appointments.

I also walk with a friend at a leisurely pace for 1-1/2 hours on Sunday afternoons. We talk and walk and have a really nice time walking through a lot of parks in our area.

The more I move, the better I feel. But, I injured my hip driving for too many hours 2 weekends ago and now I haven't been able to exercise for a week... driving me crazy but I need to rest up the hip. It's inflammed deep in the joint and I don't want to aggravate it.

My advise is to find something you enjoy and will keep you motivated. I love competition so to keep me focused I try to find races or sports. I am 2 years post op and play soccer about 3-4 nights a week, and will be competing in my first triathlon in 3 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
