Hi there. I am up in Jackson, not on the coast but I had the sleeve in February. It is so awesome and I just love the control it gives me. If you want to communicate, let me know. Good luck and hope you have a good experience through all of this.

I had the sleeve done on the 30th at home now and I'm in so much pain. I don't see how I'm going to get 64 ounces of Protein Shake daily

whoaaa, you should get 64 ounces of Water daily not Protein Shakes, but it takes awhile to work up to that. None of us could do it the first week. Review your paperwork for your diet and make sure you are following what they gave you. You should be drinking your water a little bit at a time all day long. Your "meals" such as they are, should be 3 times a day with as much Protein as you can take in. You are still on the liquid diet so drink your protein shakes and add as much Protein Powder as you can to get it all in. I used the over the counter shakes as they had the best taste to me. The first two weeks is difficult and you will have trouble getting the fluids down. Just do the best you can and each day will get a tad easier. Good luck and let me know how it's going.

Thank you so much!

How are you feeling? Can you tell a big difference. Take it easy as it will get much easier for you as time goes on. The first month is tough but it WILL GET EASIER, I promise.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
