Cold soft foods?!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

So tomorrow I'm going ploughing with our horses all day and I need to take my own food.

I really struggle to think of ideas that are good for me and the band when I'm going out like this. All I can think of is sandwiches but I don't want to take bread as it can get stuck!

I'm trying to stay away from Pasta and rice too..

Since my op Iv really gone self-conscious and the thought of people stood around all day watching me petrifies me but I know it's something Iv got to do to get over it...anyway... Because I'm so worried I thought I would take some soft foods with me?

Any ideas on good soft food?

well....if you can take alittle cooler w/you...i see nothing wrong with some tuna salad or chicken salad with some mayo....soft and tasty..toss in some apple sauce ....no need to be (petrified or self conscious)......and trust me no one is caring what you eat unless they are nosey b**itches and who cares what they think anyhow..but def remember this is about YOU.....and if you wish to just drink a Protein shake, that is terrific...you are not on a diet or a timer to eat at this allotted time...eat when hungry.. have fun w/horses :)

Hi Haley! Do you have insulated saddlebags? Or will you be taking a cooler?

This is what my lunch Snacks would look like.

I would roll sliced deli meat around a cheese stick, with a few dots of mustard or mayo inside the wrap. Maybe be even a leaf of lettuce , probably iceberg for extra moisture. An apple and carrots to nibble on, but mostly to share with the horses, a handful of almonds. Water water, maybe a small gator ade to dilute in the water to keep your electrolytes going if it really warm or outright hot. Yogurt. Big sun shady hat. Sounds like a fun productive day, enjoy!

Most people will be too busy to notice what you are doing. Make a joke about your girlish figure...have fun!

home made Soup in a thermos is a favorite

and there's just tons of recipes that work well with the typical Bandster

sometimes those gritty Protein bars are a decent choice

home garden produce this time of year is a treat as well, although such as 'tomatoes' and 'sliced cucumbers' may not work well with the horses

re: "self-conscious and the thought of people stood around all day watching me petrifies me but I know it's something Iv got to do to get over" fortunately (or not, depending) it eventually strikes us all that in reality NOBODY is the focus of such attention for very long. Most of such concerns are merely part of our own individual internal dialogue and over sensitivities. It's a cruel reality out there, but in my own world no one actually is as thrilled watching me as watching themselves and hoping for positive feedback on their OWN style.

You'll make it just doing what you know is best for you.

Cheers on your journey.

I have noticed that more people are self conscious about what they are doing then what I am doing. So i just let them do their thing and I do mine. Occasionally I will get the questions about why I am eating XYZ and it's usually from people who have noticed how much weight I have lost. If I feel like telling them about my band and the songs it plays I will but if not I'll just say because it's healthy, it's good for me and it tastes great!

Enjoy the horses! This is a great time of year to enjoy the outdoors!

Oh when I am in a pinch and if a cooler is not available for me..I will stick to things like Protein bars, Water, and some nuts.

Hiya!!

Yes It was really good thank you! I got second place so I was absolutely made up!

I made a picnic for everyone with sandwiches

And for me I had a flask with homemade Soup in it and some cracker breads and Just a tub with chicken in, but to be honest with you I didn't really eat much because I hardly stopped all day.

And by the end of it all I was too tired to eat ????

It was a great work out! Haha x x

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
