Friday is my day!! I am so excited and scared at the same time!!!!! All the what ifs are driving me crazy! What if I just ate less? What if I just exercised more? What if I just ate better? What if I have complications? What if a doctor won't help me in the US if I do have complications? BUT WHAT IF THIS WORKS!!???!!!

I had a wonderful experience with my surgery in Tijuana in August (the 27th). We all go through those what ifs, but we are not the only country in this world with good, trained specialist doctors. Just the only country that makes medicine so much more expensive than it needs to be and out of reach for the middle and lower classes. In this country, good, attentive care is for the rich...the ones rich enough to pay for all the right insurance and rich enough to pay for a bunch of stuff that the new Obamacare insurances won't cover.

Plus, I had no trouble seeing my U.S. doctor for a check up. She was little shocked, but then she ran through the list of things she assumed would have been missed in lab work...but nothing was missed. I'm 50 and they even tested my samples for pregnancy. My U.S. doctor even referred me to a nutritionist, which I needed for insurance purposes.

It is going to be 110% better than anything you're imagining right now...believe me.

I made a bunch of new friendswhile there that would say the same thing. If you want some extra assurance, I can see if I can get you in touch with them too.

Calm yourself little one. You will do fine and deal as the needs arise. Right now is a new beginning for you. I remember it so well for me. I could not wait. Enjoy every single minute of your journey. Write down the positives and read them over and over again.

You know why you are here and you know where you want to be. Go for it and don't look back. Join the millions that are taking control of their health and well being..You got this!!!!! :)

My surgeon was Jacqueline Osuna, the wife of Dr. alejandro lopez. Both only practice bariatric surgery. I would recommend Dr. Osuna to anyone and everyone!!!

Who was your surgeon? Thanks.

Been where? Worrying about complications or been to the same hospital you will be at? If it's the first thing, I can honestly say I wasn't worried a bit. I was excited and couldn't wait to start down my new path. We all could get hit by a bus tomorrow and that comes with a whole set of its own complications, but are you afraid to leave your house each day? I'm guessing not.

You have to,do what's best for you, but I think we've all been pretty clear that the experience was great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
