I'll be three weeks out tomorrow and I still have swelling in my abdomen. So even if it's not "normal", you're not alone.

Oh, yeah.

My tummy is bigger than it's ever been at this weight. I should clarify that on Day 28 post-op I had to have gallbladder. So I now have 10 holes in my abdomen.

But I have no doubt things will eventually settle down.

Onward and downward.

@@JamieLogical Thanks..At least I know I'm not alone lol.

Do you still have the left side abdominal pain?..Mine was feeling like it was getting better all last week and then I sneezed yesterday and feel like I've re-injured myself, It's really painful.

I just had my sleeve 5 days ago. my pre-op weight was 213, and today I left the hospital as 218! Even I nearly drink nothing but Water and some tea during this five days. I have a huge swelling on my abdomen, and it seems like it won't go away easily.

So, you are not the only one around here...

Hi Baby,

I haven't experienced that but was just wondering how you were doing overall. :)

I just have random soreness in my abs. Sometimes I feel just fine. Sometimes I go to get up off the couch or get out of bed and I feel like someone just stabbed me. I woke up in the night last night with terrible muscle pain on my left side and had to shift around until I could find a comfortable position.

@@HaddocksEyes I wish I could say I was doing better, first week out was great no issues or complications and I felt things were getting back to normal. Now two weeks out I've caught a head cold and sneezed my way back into being paralyzed. The pain I'm feeling in my abdominal area feel like muscle pain right where my belly button is and every time I move or walk or breath the wrong way it feels like my intestines are trying to fly out of my body.

Just saw nurse practitioner today.

She explained that the new stabbing/burning pain is part of the healing process and is due to blood pooling below the big incision. Anyway it's apparently normal and should last a few days. She suggested heating pad or take pain meds.

So sorry to hear that. But the upside is that you are consuming good amounts of Protein and I hear that the best way to fight a cold is to do just that. I hope you are feeling better!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
