Did anyone have regrets? I keep reading how everyone is so happy! I want to be happy but I am in pain, starving, and not sleeping.....I had surgery on Wednesday...when did people start feeling good???

Hang in there kid you are just starting 19 months ago I was in pain. Today 95 pounds given away and I say I don't remember the pain. Best of luck and do what you medical staff tells you to do and all will be good.

Oh dear we've all been there and done that. That's why there are no regrets. I'm glad I had surgery when I did because it was the right time for me. I all it all to God and no one else. Your pains will be over soon. Best wishes, congratulations on being banded and good luck.

Hi!

Congratulations on your banding! I'm 3 months out and I feel fantastic. It's definitely an odd adjustment in the first few days. Take it easy, and you have permission to baby yourself a bit. I took a long weekend for surgery (Thursday-Sunday) and was back to work by Monday. That Monday at work was disorienting and I felt super crabby, but ultimately it was best to get moving and back into the regular routine. I had a hard time sleeping in my bed for the first week and half. If you find that sleeping in a bed makes you sore (as I am also a stomach sleeper), try sleeping on an air mattress for a while until some of the initial pain and swelling goes down. That's what I did and was able to get restful nights of sleep.

As others have said, a lot of the discomfort is from the residual gas from surgery. This will ease up everyday. My doctor told me it could take up to two weeks to feel completely normal again from surgery. So, this is going to be the most physically uncomfortable leg of the journey. Once you can start eating food again and feel the difference in restriction, it will be a far out experience. I wanted to cry tears of joy the first time I ate and actually felt the fullness and restriction of the band. Even though I didn't receive my first fill until week 6, you can still feel more restriction that you felt without a band. It's an enchanting experience. As odd as this sound, enjoy this early part of it too. As you start to feel better, you'll know this was the best decision you could've made for yourself.

I am pretty sure you are feeling that "what the hell did I do to myself" moment. We all did it. I was so upset the first week I cried for days thinking I had ruined myself . However it's a few short weeks and you start feeling better. As soon as you can start actually eating and enjoying the weight loss each week you will know that this was a great decision. I have no regrets after 18 months and 60 lbs loss . My health and mobility have improved dramatically. The main thing to do now is drink lots of fluids, walk as much as possible, keep on the prescribed eating plan and look forward to a new you. Feel better soon.

I feel the same. I had my surgery on Monday and 3 days after I feel gross. Every time I take a sip it feels like it's coming back up and it's all painful. I felt an enormous amount of regret right after surgery and also today feeling as awful as I do. I know it will get better but it's hard to think in the future with this much discomfort. I hear you!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
