It took me about a week to start feeling better. You are at the very very beginning of things, and are still healing. Give yourself time. :)

Everyone is a bit different, and it is major surgery. The worst part for me was the port--that area remained sore longer than other sutured area. Hang in there for a week; give your body time to heal. You're swollen, your organs have been pushed around, and you were filled with gas during the surgery and you have incisions that need time to heal. Did your doctor give you any pain management medications to carry you through the first several days?

I felt much better by day 6 and felt pretty good by 2 weeks. Give yourself the healing time, drink plenty of fluids and avoid giving in to the hunger and eating real food until your surgeon gives you the green light. Also remember, the band is virtually empty at this time therefore you aren't getting the full benefit yet. Once you've had a few fills, you will see more benefits. I have no regrets, but I will tell you the first 3 or 4 days, I had many.

I regret waiting on asking help for weight loss. I regret not putting me first on my list of priorities over work. I do regret not following the 1/4c rule more in the beginning. It's taken me longer to realize that the band shouldn't be your "stop" it should be your "let's see how little we can eat and get away with it!".

I regret not doing this sooner. My mom passed away 2 years ago--I would have liked to see her see me so happy.

It took me 2 1/2 weeks to start feeling better. Then I realized that my stomach was really empty. That didn't help matters. Give it some time. Remember, the surgeon was digging around on your insides while you took a nap!

I'm six months post banding and no regrets. I honestly can't remember when I started feeling "good" but take that as a positive. A few months down The road, you will have trouble recalling this discomfort as well. I was mentally prepared for the post op difficult time and the liquid diet. I think I may have been truly happy the first day I got to chew food again. Lol. That was six weeks post op. Actually I was happy about my decision pretty early. Yes there's discomfort but it doesn't last. Good luck.

none

me being super morbid obese made me realize i did that to myself and i have no reason/right to judge anyone..people judge me enough (then/now and will always) and i know how it feels..being that large of a person only made me more compassionate of a person..shame it hasnt done that for everyone..

around the 6 week mark post op i would say i was back to near 100%

every day it gets better..move, eat, (when you are able), drink alot, stay positive

and just think in a few months, you will be on here saying those very things to newbie patients also...and that is be patient, it will happen..

Absolutely no regrets and would do it again! I was so thrilled to be on the other side that discomfort didn't seem so bad.

Certainly had to change my life and I am grateful. I have the feeling my size would have crept UP instead of dropping down each month. Yikes

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
