Bigboy76 102 Posted September 20, 2014 Stupid question...but trying to understand my new stomach. How do u know when your stomach is full? I am on Day 4 post-op. I ate like 5-6 teaspoons of soup...and I've got mild reflux. It eventually settled. So..just trying to not push myself. Some good warning signs would be helpful guys. Getting full isn't quite like it used to be.
Recycled 2,182 Posted September 20, 2014 Still being on liquids, full is not really what you're aiming for. Just stay hydrated. Now once you get to mush or soft and then solid food......things will be different. My method is to weigh or measure everything. I started at about 3.5 ounces or 1/2 cup and am now up to about 5 ounces or a cup at 8 months. I still eat too fast and the sleeve just doesn't register fullness until after I'm done eating. If I didn't weigh or measure, I would surely eat too much waiting for some indication and then it would be too late. (this has happened on a few occasions and is quite uncomfortable) Trust me.......weigh it or measure it closely. At least until you get used to your portion amounts. Bigboy76 102 Posted September 20, 2014 Yeah.. I'm basically on liquids but am supposed to create 3 daily meals using applesauce, oatmeal, cottage cheese, etc. I supplement with the Protein shakes to get to my daily Protein goals. Wife is making the meals but said she's not giving more than 1/3 cup at a time. I'm not even eating the entire portion most times. We'll just keep weighing & measuring everything as suggested, and I'll keep pumping the liquids. A bit gun shy about overdoing it!
