I'm day 5 now... Yesterday was my best day yet, but this morning I woke up with a killer headache. I'm wondering if because I've cut back so much that my body has become deficient in something. Carbs maybe?? Haha seriously tho... I'm wondering if it's a Vitamin thing. :(

I'm 5 days into my liquid diet. My surgery date is sept 30th... I Prob do need to drink more Water because it seems to only hit me when I wake up. As I get hydrated and "eat" something, I feel better.

I'm 6 days into my pre op liquid too. I feel pretty crappy in the morning as well. I think it's just kind of common will our baby freaks out because we aren't feeding it. My surgery is Tuesday. When is yours?

Did you cut out caffeine? I had monster headaches - just a few sips of coffee and I was good to go. Feel better.

I hear you. We've had some added stress in our lives the last couple days with trying to take care of my Uncle's estate since my parents live in a different state, but I hung in there and just filled a cooler of liquids and brought them with me. Now today I'm getting my house all clean so I'm ready to go to surgery tomorrow.

Yeppers on the fluids suggestion.. The liquid pre op headaches suck and the only thing that will head them off is water.. keep some by your bed through the night and when you wake up to turn over etc take a big sip.. drink a decent sized glass before bed .. and keep on drinking lol.. it gets less common as you go but they do turn up post op as well when you slack of on your Fluid intake :) Good luck with your surgeries ladies!

Post op day 3 and doing much better. I think I'll actually get more than 32 oz of liquid today. No pain other than random gas pain, but nauseous. I took a Zofran yesterday and decided maybe I better keep taking those regular for a couple days.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
