Melissayw816 62 Posted September 19, 2014 When doing your pre-op is it best to do clear liquid or full liquid? My surgeon has gave me what seems like a clear liquid diet but I'm able to eat yogurt, oatmeal, grits and fat free pudding. Are you more susceptible losing more weight on clear or full liquid diets? Your thoughts?
4me4them 381 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) I would say follow your surgeon's plan...it seems like every surgeon has his/her own methods for the immediately before surgery pre-op diet. Mine has cottage cheese, yogurt and v8 juice but not oatmeal or grits. I don't think the preop is all about losing weight....it is about cleaning out the system, shrinking the liver and the stomach...or so I've been told Edited September 20, 2014 by 4me4them
Melissayw816 62 Posted September 20, 2014 Oh ok ....yes I'm aware of the shrinking of the liver, I guess I'm so caught up in the pounds lost rather than my liver...in which it goes hand and hand..thanks for your input
