I am 7 weeks post-op and about two weeks ago I started burping alot, at least 3 or 4 or more in 5 min. These are not good window rattling burps, just small quiet burps. Most people would not even notice I do this, but I sure do.I am sure getting tired of it. ANY IDEAS?

geez Wish I could help! I'm 10 days post-op and have had nothing but gas, air, burps what ever you wanna call it.. I've been trying gas-x and deep breathing and it doesn't help. All I know is I'm very uncomfortable and tired of it as well. Maybe it's something your eating that doesn't agree with you.

My initial operation burps (and poots) whew.. that was a lot..

That's all gone now, but everytime I drink or eat, I get burps. Small quiet ones. I figured it comes with the territory now! I look forward to them, it lets me 'feel' the room I have left.

Sounds like you might be swallowing a lot of air with your food and fluids. Try being EXTRA careful to not swallow air and see what that does.

Are you eating foods that are gassy? Like Beans?

Well, think about it. The air has to be coming from somewhere. Either you are swallowing it or eating gassy foods. If you aren't eating Beans non stop, you have to be swallowing air.

If you think through this while eating, do you think that might be workable?

It's not a matter of breathing while you eat, it's something that takes practice. Before you swallow think about what is in your mouth. Remove the air and THEN swallow. You'll get the hang of it, it just takes time.

TONS!

Big bites, eating too fast, not chewing well enough, and swallowing air.

Being banded means learning how to CHEW once again. Amazing what we think we know. :(

This time frame is called bandster hell for a reason, eh? :( Weight loss is not the goal today, healing is. Weight loss is the goal tomorrow. Relax, give it time. Weight loss is around the corner.

It took me a week to burp!!! (I finally did it today) I was banded on 04/30/07 and any time i swallowed too much air i had to wait for it to work itself to the other end :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
