Hello all,

I plan on getting the sleeve next year and I am concerned about the recovery time needed. I only plan to take 10 days off of work and wonder if there are any fellow RN's out there who can tell me about their recovery? Any suggestions, recovery stories? How was it when you went back to work?

Thanks!

There is a nurse thread on here some where . . . if I can find the link I will post for you. I'm a RN too, but I work at a desk now.

here it is: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/218028-super-nurses-with-sleeves-support-group/

I was released at one week to come back to work but I took an additional 4 days of vacation. Since I don't know what kind of nursing you do I don't know about the physical side but I had no restrictions. They said if it hurts don't do it. I was very tired and still am some days but getting better. I work in public health now and it was ok but when I worked in surgery I couldn't have done it quite so easy.

What is your work situation? Floor nursing in a hospital? Admin job? And how long is your work day?

I am an L&D RN, 12 hour shifts, moderate work load, moderate lifting/pt assistance......

I was still wanting an afternoon nap 10 days post op. I went back after 2 weeks off. I'm an informatics nurse so I'm mostly traveling to meetings & carrying the laptop. Not strenuous like lifting patients & doing 12 hr shifts (I don't miss those 12 hr shifts). I could have gone back after a week but I had plenty of vacation time to use & took advantage of it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
