Hey friend while most of us focus on the scale let's not forget about inches. This week I tossed a pair of size 22 jeans into a donation bag never to be worn again & today It hit me my Bra was way to big. It felt like over nite I had all this extra room. Low & behold I search thru some boxed up stuff & discovered I could fit one 2 inches smaller. Yippee!

Then to add to my joy my husband looks at me & says he can tell I'm losing weight already. Then he reminds me not to lose too much. LOL I asked what would be two much & he reached way back to The British model "Twiggy". Like that would happen.... The smallest I've ever been was a size 14 so unlikely to have that issue. I'm just gonna do my happy dance down to the kitchen to fill up my Water pitcher again ????????????????

I have a list of foods/liquids the surgeon have me that I can eat for the liquid diet. On it there are cream Soup and yogurt. When I talked to my sister she said those weren't technically liquids, but oh well... They're are on the list and I'm happy about it. But I was asking her about sugar free Jello pudding and fudgesicles. She didn't think they would qualify and since the list just said sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles, I decided better safe than sorry. I know I could call the nutritionist but it's OK not to have those too.

I.asked about pudding and fudgesicles and my doctors office said not while on the liquid diet. Every Dr. Seems different, might be worth the call. :)

I'm preparing myself to go to Old Navy tomorrow. I only have 3 pairs of pants and they are well worn and too big now, they are between 22/24. I'm hoping to be a size smaller. Today I went to my job to get some paperwork I needed and my boss can already tell I have lost at least 20lbs. I think my "intermission" might be coming to a close because I was down half a pound today, still 229 but only 229.2 lbs instead of the 229.8 lbs.

Update: So I just went into my closet. I have 1 pair of pants I've not worn in 4+ years because they were always too tight. They are a size 20. I fit them now!!!! I was so not thinking they were going to fit either. Now I know what size to get while out at Old Navy tomorrow! Pretty soon I'll be in a size 18!

After the surgery I was allowed SF pudding during liquid diet.

Okay I have an update. I have had a total of eight liters Water. I am had potassium IV drip. They were supposed to be feeding me to make sure I can tolerate liquids but since I never got to a regular room and I spent the whole time in the ER none of that was addressed. I begged the surgical team to let me go home and I promised that I was going to try to drink somethings, anything to make sure I got in 30 to 40 ounces of liquid minimum. You can't sleep in the ER, you can't shower in the ER, you stay in your cubicle in the ER, I felt like a caged animal. I am so glad that I got out I don't even care if I have water weight on me or if I've lost any weight or gained any weight, I don't care, I'm just glad that I am out of there and I never want to go back. The pain in my side and in the middle of my abdomen I'm just going to wrap myself up with an abdominal binder and keep going.

Sitting in my hospital room at 5am. The plan is to get to go home. I'm really looking forward to that. So far recovery has been smooth. Sure, I've had pain and itching. But it has all been tolerable. I'm all stocked up on what I need for the next two weeks. My best to everyone with surgeries this wee and next. Keeping myself focused on my reasons and goals. Thanks for all of the great support!

For all of us PostOp.

I believe the decision to have VSG was the best decision for me. For my health and to become the me I've always wanted to be on the outside. I will never forget seeing my Beloved GodMother always over weight once full of energy either working in her garden growing the most incredible veggies or in her kitchen making amazing dessert. However, now in her 80's full of pain walking with a cane more than 100 pounds overweight on her 5ft 4 frame. I saw her one last time in her late 90's using a two legged walker now- having lost a leg below the knee still cheerful but now every step was a major effort. She made it to 100 I'm convinced her giving spirit is what helped her achieve a birthday of 100. Yet she was unable to fulfill her dreams because instead of taking care of herself she got sicker & sicker.

To lose my extra weight likely 110 pounds of it so I can enjoy my life that's my goal. Inch by inch, pound by pound and KEEP IT OFF that's my commitment to Me! post-205891-14141494102467_thumb.jpg

Hello ladies! Update: I had my surgery yesterday afternoon and everything went very smoothly. They just disconnected my self activated pain pump and we'll go Tylenol from here. Just got back from X-ray to check for leaks and passed that test so I can start oral fluids within the hour.

I have been sleeping nonstop. Went to the bathroom a few times but no walks yet. Mild discomfort in the upper stomach bc of the HH repair, but other than that everything's been a breeze so far. No nausea to speak of, no itching, and really no gas pain. It didn't hurt to urinate after the catheter, and no drain. I'm feeling very blessed and happy. The only negative is the excessive dry mouth and that terrible tasting barium.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
