Naynay31 63 Posted October 19, 2014 zinc is good for wound healing at 30 mg a day. But The liquid Vitamin supplement that I was taking the first week didn't have any was pretty disgusting and whatever I mixed into it maybe that taste disgusting. So I went and found my kids chewable vitamins.< /p>oh ok I didn't know that
DoraP 28 Posted October 19, 2014 Hello All, I've just joined the site myself and I also have the surgery in october, 27th... I am so excited...one week from now. I am European and unfortunately we don't have as many patients as you have in the USA hence in all of hungary there is only one support group so I am trying to be really active online to help through the emotional part of the journey.... Everybody, what are you planning to do to support the mental recovery?

ImOnMyWay61 55 Posted October 19, 2014 I will say, since my surgery I have a lot less appetite, but my cravings are still there. I made dinner for our family on Friday night. One of my favorites, fried chicken, potato salad and baked Beans. I cheated.... I tried to eat a wing... I chewed and chewed and chewed and then I slowly swallowed.... Needless to say I was uncomfortable until I forced myself to purge. I promise I won't do that again. My grilled chicken will wait until I can eat it, not any sooner. Jyoyonomore 319 Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks to who ever mentioned the Water AP a few days ago to Track water intake. I downloaded " WaterLogged" today free & it is changing my PostOp for the better. I use little medicine cups to get my liquid in & just seemed such a long way off before I would get 64 oz's in. Not now .... This AP was created by a guy after his wife had surgery it includes reminders too. Love it!
tacycakes 127 Posted October 19, 2014 These doctors are so different in their diet plans pre and post op!! My doctor says no Vitamins or supplements for 4 weeks except B complex which should be taken on day 3 post-op. And ALL of them should be liquid or chewable. They stress that so much. The nurse said the other day that the worst part of my surgery will be the hiatal hernia site bc it's hard to breathe afterward. The keep you in hospital for an extra day due to that. And an extra hole in my bra line. Reading what y'all have written re: Constipation, I'm def going to be taking a laxative to the hospital with me to get ahead of that hopefully. 4 days and counting! (And by the way, my headaches have gotten so much better- now for the energy levels to come up!)

amylynns 802 Posted October 19, 2014 Hi everyone, Day 6 of the liquid diet and so far, so good. I'm already struggling to get in all my Water...I just 'forget' to drink it until it's too late in the day and I don't want to be up all night running back and forth to the bathroom! I saw a few of you saying you were suffering from headaches on the liquid diet. It might be a ketosis headache. When I did Medifast, it's a high Protein, low carb diet and it work on the premise that your body goes into ketosis about 3-5 days into the diet (very similar to what we're doing) and speeds up the fat burning process. But until it does so, you can get a headache and be very lethargic then one day, bam! you feel better. My surgery is next MOnday and I keep thinking of a 100 things I want to get done before then; I know they're not going to all get done. LOL SO great reading everyone's story here. I work alot so hard to keep up with everyone but I sure am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers as you face surgery and post surgery! Ketosis headache, never heard of it, but sounds exactly like what I had. The bam--feeling better definitely happened. Good luck with your surgery! Mine is tomorrow morning!
