It has been nice to be able to lay around all home these last two days. Having lost so much blood and subsequent transfusions has taken a toll. So tired. But I get up at least once an hour and walk laps around the house. It helps. I keep getting nose bleeds though.

Anyone who has done the clear liquid/broth preop diet, can you add unflavored Protein to either, otherwise I will have no Protein and I have one killer headache.

ALSO!!! I bought an eight pack of lemonlime Powerade zero, not something I normally drink, and somehow as I started my third one, I realize I bought the regular Powerade not the zero, I had over 70 carbs and 270 calories this morning. No wonder my sugar levels were fine, I was checking to make sure didnt go too low.

I am 5 days post-op. I sleep a lot. Gas is almost all gone; which was 92% of the pain. chewable Gas-X. Yesterday was a good day but I may have over done it. Sore today. Being in a car makes me sore; all that jiggling. I think everything is on track. I am taking all my Vitamins. Only getting one Protein Drink in per day. Popsicles are my best friend. Go Seahawks!!!!

I just read this, I hope you are ok, may I ask what happened so that you lost a lot of blood and needed transfusions. Hope the nose bleeds stop soon.

Hi,

I was looking over your list I am going in on Wednesday. I was under the impression that the hospital pharmacy provides the medicine while you are admitted. Is that incorrect? do I need to bring my meds from home?

Thanks

Me five,

Love: The updates that people are feeling better, all the photos of everyone and the Jolly Ranchers bag is priceless. Funny layknee are you planning to give up chewing in favor of the food mill. It sure sounds a lot easier then chewing every bite 35 times. I am just kidding!

I think, you are supposed to bring your meds to hospital specially if another doctor prescribed them. Make sure they are in the original bottles. No random pills in a box or baggie. The hospital provides meds your surgeon prescribes while you are in patient. Sometimes you go home with prescriptions to fill at a pharmacy.

EVERYONE has to check layknee's medicine bag. I am dying right now, time to run to the bathroom again. Between that and your Jolly Ranchers bag you are set

One thing that is a total negative. One incision is where my bra line sits and another is where the top of my jeans sit. There is glue over the incisions but on first outing I learned to put bandages over them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
