On your hospital list make sure you add:

Dress to come home in. Pants are hard to get into

The best mules/ slides you have to walk laps around the hospital. No shoes with laces or flip flops as they are afraid you'll trip

i only own gym shoes. I already planned to wear my sparkly ribcage dress home. Gotta come back like a rockstar.

So a mini update on my Protein issue. I ordered Bene pro and had it overnighted to me. I just tried it 20 minutes ago. When they say it is tasteless, it literally is. I mixed it with 4 oz of apple juice. I would note that it probably needs a little more liquid and mix it with a fork. All it did was make the apple juice cloudy. It did not change the taste or texture for that matter at all. So far so good, no bloat, no nausea. Feeling really full however I also took my pills right after. I will update more if anything happens to change. If not, then I just found my protein!

Panic mode here! Found out that one weight recorded 2 years ago when I went in with step throat and hadn't eaten for several days may cause insurance to deny coverage of surgery! Most frustrating thing is I can't get message or call through to my provider to explain! I hope I get through On Monday before they send records. This is the final piece of info they need and it might put and end to this journey after 10 months of going above and beyond to jump through insurance hoops.????????

I would love to play volleyball and do horseback riding again!

I love horses but I've been embarrassed to ride & hurt the horse.

@@Beni, in regards to a sippy cup in the hospital, I have heard that the nurses line up 1 oz dixie cups with your liquids to keep track of how much Fluid you are getting in. Anyone who has just had surgery, is that how it was for you?

@@dc0520, hope you are doing ok, can I as what brand of shake it was, I might want to avoid that one, though it makes sense about waiting too long.

Well, I had my first dumping situation this afternoon. I have never experienced such pain and terror in my life. Chills, sharp pain and boom I hit the floor, scaring the crap out of my kids and hubby. I wanted to share this because I really only thought dumping happened from going off plan...this is a dangerous assumption. I dumped from my normal shake BECAUSE I waited to long in between each one. Be aware how important it is to have a schedule. The lack of hunger is a tricky thing. I only hope none of you experience what I did today. I'm still shaken and sensitive about it ???? happiness from here on out I swear!

Sorry you had the experience but THANK YOU for the reminder!

I'm doing okay this evening. Trying to prepare myself to be proactive and never deal with that again. Auri there is something very similar - I've been bloated and miserable - I chalked it up to surgery but now I'm thinking it's the whey. My mother is allergic to whey so it wouldn't be an unrealistic thought. I've been using the Premier Protein. I've always done soy with no issues - it'll be worth a try

Hmmmm I was going to wear home some oversized sweat pants & plush pullover jersey. It's cold on the Eastcoast now. I don't have a comfortable dress. Question the hospital let you wear PJ's?

On most recovery floors that's not standard but I will take my comfortable slip on's & leave the flips at home.

@@Happy<3 sending positives your way that all will work out!

Thank you Jyoyonomore. I feel like I've been in a continuous panic attack since Thursday. I have been planning/obsessing/counting on this surgery for so long. I am so ready for a second chance for a new life and to change this mess I have made of myself the past decade+ !!

I know everyone on here has probably been in a similar situation. I'm trying to hold on....????????

Wow folks have been busy today I got 60 plus posts into my phone today as I was doing my errands. Nice to sit here tonight & catch up. So much great info. I getting my Sippy Cup tomorrow. No gulping for me!!! 2 more days .

This was a great day despite pouring rain. I made my last run to goodwill some shoes I hardly wore & some books I enjoyed but taking up too much space. I use my Nook for reading now. I'm almost done with my recovery Oasis a second bedroom that's been underused. I have my new recliner & my old CD/cassette/ radio player out if storage set up. They laughed at Best Buy when I went in to find something that would connect my IPod device to it. But it set up now & my favorite music is ready. I set some candles out & placed my hands weights & exercise pad right next to the TV. I just have to add a throw rug. I wanted to paint the walls but I ran out of time so that will have to be part of my exercise come 5 weeks out!????

Sunday I'll be working on my hospital bag for Tuesday!

They would give you bottoms if wanted. I just don't see a reason to bring your own when you will be extremely bloated and in pain. Plus they will be getting blood, changing lines, looking at incisions frequently (at least every 4 hours) and giving blood thinning injections. Plus you don't want hospital germs on more of your things than necessary ( sorry this is my CNA talking). So no change in how I'm feeling now than I was when I took the Protein in the beginning. If tomorrow goes well, this will.be my new protein. I feel just fine. If my incisions would stop hurting, I'd be one happy camper. I took pain meds twice today but I did go for quite a walk today too.

about the PJs, I don't plan on wearing them ever again. They are a size 4X that one of my best friend bought me last Christmas. Plus they're really warm. She had gastric bypass's surgery a few years ago, her starting weight was 600 pounds and she went down to 250 but started eating more and she has gained back up to 300 pounds. So she is planning on walking with me and exercising with me this next 12 months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
