Just a word of warning. 4 days post op and at my wits end in bloating/gas pain I chose to use my kids chewable pedi lax .....it worked BUT the flood gates are open now. Great for the pain, not great when you want to leave the house. You are warned ????

5 days post op and finally home from hospital after some complications. Just so tired pain is minimal though. I have to admit, when I first woke from surgery my I wondered what the heck I did to myself. Ugh.

my husband said I kept crying asking what did I do too. I think it's a normal though. I'm glad you're home!

On your hospital list make sure you add:

Dress to come home in. Pants are hard to get into

The best mules/ slides you have to walk laps around the hospital. No shoes with laces or flip flops as they are afraid you'll trip

Hi ladies back from hospital. So glad to hear from you and your stories.

After Uterine ablation I woke up screaming my head off. Scared the heck out of the hospital staff. I couldn't stop crying. Until today I don't know why. I was in some pain but not warranting such reaction

Oh, on the sippy cup issue. I'm thinking it may be helpful to have one in the hospital because all they have is the super thin plastic cups and when you are laying down it's hard to drink from those but I would love to hear from those who just had surgery. Is there anything you wish you had in the hospital?

On the surgery buyers remorse, It's totally normal to feel that way. Having a kid, getting married, anything hard, I think it's human nature to feel that way. Even buying or renting a new house. It's okay, you are doing GREAT my brave friends

I brought a thin pair is jammie bottoms. I wore them the whole time. There was a couple girls doing their walking while I was doing mine with their gowns open in the back. I would highly recommend the pj's.

I guess so Beni, dire needs only though, lol! I do fine sipping. My incisions are still freakin sore which makes bending over impossible, which also makes changing a diaper impossible too. I find that I'm able to get up easier, faster now. As soon as the incision pain leaves me I will be as good as ever. I still sometimes think , what did I do to myself. Matter of fact 4 days post op was a very bad day for me. Gas pains, nausea, general pain, I cried, hard. My husband was mad at me because I wasn't relying on him like I was supposed to. Remember to utilize all the help you can get, we are amazing but not superhuman.

my husband just gave me the same speech...he's deployed all the time so I'm used to ding things on my own regardless of how I feel. Now I'm just lying on working on school stuff. Each day I'm praying it's better.

Love your shopping items. The colorful spoons, divided dish for Protein, veggies and carbs. Adorbs!

@AuriP

Yes , I have to remind myself I am not superhuman. My husband travels a lot and I am used to depending on no one. It is VERY hard for me to ask for help. I am worried about this because I do not have a high pain threshold. However, I do have an incredibly high misery threshold. Hello, I have waited 10+ years to get this surgery. Miserable the entire time!

Well, I had my first dumping situation this afternoon. I have never experienced such pain and terror in my life. Chills, sharp pain and boom I hit the floor, scaring the crap out of my kids and hubby. I wanted to share this because I really only thought dumping happened from going off plan...this is a dangerous assumption. I dumped from my normal shake BECAUSE I waited to long in between each one. Be aware how important it is to have a schedule. The lack of hunger is a tricky thing. I only hope none of you experience what I did today. I'm still shaken and sensitive about it ???? happiness from here on out I swear!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
