Hey, does anyone have one of those fitbits or a comparable one? They're pretty expensive with the readout on some of them. I didn't know if they are worth it or if it's just as easy to keep up with Water by your phone timer. I've heard that they are also a pedometer and heart rate gauge.

if you have an iPhone the striiv app is a pedometer. I use fitnesspal for water and calories. I also own a polar watch and and iloop with heartrate monitor.

Drinking Water is my biggest challenge. I have tried everything but hardly ever make it to 64Oz. I am getting to the point I will need one of those camel backpacks with a line like hikers use. But we are not supposed to use straws. I am just too busy to focus on water every 5 seconds. So sad, I am failing at drinking water, imagine that!

Sherri, I know, lol. The only problem is there is going to be a lot less of me to go around when I lose all this weight!

Are they going to put on antibiotics or do they still think your respiratory infection is viral?

Beni I do pretty good with water usually about 45-48 oz of water plus a couple diet ice teas but not quite 64oz I'm working on it.

But I'am worried about losing the straw PostOp. I tried drinking without it today didn't make my usual oz's plus I was running errands.

@@Beni I was on antibiotics last week. I was feeling better but I think I over did it over the weekend and I'm coughing too much with congestion in my chest. So now it's a waiting game. Sigh. LOL

I love my Fitbit. It tracks your sleep as well as activity. You can plug in your calories and set alarms for eating. It is a silent gentle buzz and I appreciate it.

Sherri4health,

No over doing anything this week right? Get well soon my friend.

Jyoyonomore,

Yes, the dreadful errands that get in the way of my Water drinking. I know them well. I suspect my issue is also not having the straw. It just makes it slower to drink. The good news is the days right after surgery drinking Water will be our full time job. Perhaps, I'll be focused then. I do make it to 48oz everyday, just not to 64oz. However, that's not with my tiny egg sized pouch post RNY. So many people are back in the hospital due to dehydration.

Okay! So I feel pretty great! Just did my barium swallow and I am officially LEAK FREE! My surgeon, dr Trahan at MJH is phenomenal and the whole hospital is wonderful and the staff are so kind✨

I've been on three walks total. My pain level is negligible when I'm cozy in bed, but on the walks or in a wheelchair it spikes up to a 4. The biggest incision hurts like a b***h when I do that or cough.

Deep breathing is tough, and they're a little worried about my oxygen. But I'm working on sitting more upright and deep breathing exercises.

No gas pains yet!! Feeling pretty great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
