HELP! Sleeved 8/27/14....scale not moving!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 8/27/14 and lost 10 pounds the first week. I am three weeks out today but the scale has NOT moved in the past two weeks. I am tracking my food intake with My Fitness Pal and I am getting plenty of Protein.....eating ONLY things on the "approved" diet list (only about 700 calories a day!).....even joined a gym and am working out almost daily (walking a mile on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the elliptical machine). Even people who don't know I had surgery say they notice I am losing weight. I can tell a difference in my face, my stomach, my backside.....my watch is looser, my rings are looser, my shoes are looser, my pants are looser.

How is it POSSIBLE the scale is not moving?????? Experienced sleevers -- HELP!!!

I went through the same thing. Eventually the weight started coming off slowly but it did come off. We loose inches before it actually shows up as pound(s) lost on a scale. Also if you are working out you may be adding muscle at the same time losing fat which can account for not seeing changes on the scale. What I did was I measure my thighs, neck, waist and arms and keep a journal to better understand how my body was transforming. The scale isn't the only validation of weight loss - your clothes, rings, how you feel and of course your love ones noticing is also valid.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your thoughts. Just frustrating to know I am doing the right things but that scale isn't moving! :-( I have my 1 month post-op appointment next week and they always measure me. Maybe if I see the difference in inches it will lift my spirits! :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
