A pound a week :P

Recommended Posts

I know it is not a race, but at 7 weeks out I would have thought I would loose more than a pound a week, MAYBE. Some weeks nothing happens.

Drinking, eating, walking. My day is composed of Proteins and Water. Occasional carbs and I am doing around 800 calories (I recently upped what I was doing a bit). I tend to eat something little (yogurt, cheese stick, cucumbers) every couple hours.

I could have done weight watchers for these kinds of results. :P I am feeling discouraged for doing exactly as I should.

As far as measurements go, I have dropped A size. One. I am just barely better than status quo.

I know what you mean--I was expecting bigger weekly losses also. But look at it this way--if we hadn't had the surgery, we'd probably be gaining (or staying the same, for sure).

My NUT told me that the average weight loss for sleevers is 1-2 lbs. a week and for bypass folks it's 2-3.

Am 4 months out and just last week I lost 5 lbs but this week the scale has not moved. It's an interesting dynamic but just remember that you are not gaining. You are changing your lifestyle forever and this is the tool to maintain that rhythm. All our bodies are different so out paces will be different. I have hot so many stalls that I don't count anymore lol. I just focus on the gradual loss :-) I literally average 1-2lbs on weeks that I actually lose.

i would like that everybody handles the stress of surgery differently. Give it some more time, stick to your plan, try to stay positive. I am sure it will all fall into place.

I am almost 4 weeks out as of tomorrow, and as you can see in my stats, I am considered a "slow loser". I lost 5 pre op and 17 post op and now I am in my dreaded 3 week stall. Could I have lost 17lbs in 4 weeks without surgery? Absolutely! Done it a hundred times! Did I KEEP those 17lbs I lost off before my surgery? HELL NO! I might be losing a little slower than other surgery patients, but I don't care because I know when I ultimately lose all the weight I need to, I will not pile it back on quicker than I lost it! Keep things in perspective. We did this for lifelong results, not quick weight loss. Work the program and let it work for you, whether you lose 25lbs a month or 5! Congrats on your current weight loss!

Wow its like you were inside my brain when you wrote that post! Im three weeks out from my surgery also and the first 2 weeks i dropped like 22lbs. I just started the pureed stage and have pretty much stalled. How do all these other people loose so much weight within a year? Im not regretting my decision and im certainly not hungry anymore like i used to be, but between, Water, Protein and walking what else can i do?

Hang in there. I have heard (and I hope it is true, because I am a slow loser, too) that a slower weight loss allows the skin to recover elasticity more easily and will help the hangover to not be so bad -especially if you are young. I think I will have to change my signature for a while. The new one will be "Stalls are like lovers. Your first one will probably not be your last."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
