Looking for a " Dear God let me get approved" Pal

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Well, I am through everything but my Psy. evaluation which is the 30th. I figured there must be someone else looking at this site, reading everything they can and staring at pictures while waiting for approval from the Insurance company.

The more I see the stories and success here the more I feel that this is what I need. With that being said, my biggest fear is a Insurance denial. So if there is anyone who wants to buddy up to chat about the waiting game etc.. let me know. I hope it will go faster and be more fun to start this journey together.

JB

Hi well u found someone also waiting lol why do u fear denial? I haven't been submitted yet I'm told it should be next month month / early nov the only thing I know is if u have some other conditions such as high blood pressure diabetes or heart issues it is supposed to help get the approval I've seen post here where people say their primary dr doesn't want to sign off if u see a specialist for any reason for a couple years such as pulmonary or cardiologist or endocrinologist they will usually sign off on it also gyno drs too I had my psych eval on tues I had to go to one of the drs on my programs list sat there for 2 hours then asked me a few questions for 10 mins and it was over lol for some reason I thought there would be more to it then that but I guess not anyway I can be a sounding board if u like good luck!

Hey there! I have just started on this journey. I have my first nutrition appointment next Friday. I am hoping to get approved so I can have surgery in January. It is so important to me to get approved and I can relate to the "Dear God" thing. I am trying to stay positive and only let myself visualize success. This is so important to me as I am sure it is for you. We can all obsess over this together :)

I'm in the same situation. I've met my out of pocket for this year so I have to get it done before Jan. 1st. I've had all the tests and meetings. The doctor's office said they were sending it to the insurance company this past Wednesday and my "dummy date" for the insurance company is Nov. 3rd. I'm just waiting for the approval. I'm not going to be able to have the surgery on the 3rd though because I have to take the week before off from work to stay with my grandson and my boss doesn't want me to be out of the office 2 weeks in a row. I'm just planning to take 1 week off for the surgery. I have a desk job so I'm hoping that I'm not too tired to go to work.

Hi deanieg I was wondering once u get approved and they give u a date if it doesn't work for u can u just move it around? And how long is the approval good for is there a limit like 30 days? If u don't have it within a certain period of time do u have to start over or what if u know that is thanks!

I think the approval is good for a while b/c some people can't get in to surgery that quick. But you could call the INS and ask. I got my 6 mo consultation and am seeing the PSY on the 30th.

I was thinking yesterday about having the surgery yesterday and it dawned on me.......my battle of almost 20 yrs will finally be over.....and I will no longer be depressed over how I look. That is going to be HUGE! I am afraid to get excited b/c I am not approved yet. But won't it be wonderful to throw all those clothes in the Good Will pile?!!!

Hey guys, I am also waiting...I finally got all my clearances done and scheduled to have my endoscopy in the morning then on Tuesday I have my final consult with the surgeon and they submit everything to the insurance, and to be honest, i am feeling so optimistic about it, I just know that the insurance will approve it and the doctors office said it could take 3-6 weeks. I can't wait to start this new life, good luck to all of you, and I'm sure the approvals will come falling out 1 by 1. many insurance companies would rather pay for this one shot than have to pay for medications and surgeries for a lifetime.

I wish you all luck as you wait it out. I have relatively lower BMI and few comorbids but was certainly heading toward a higher BMI and sicker life. My insurance approved within 10 days and surgery scheduled in about a month from approval. I wish and pray for your success!

Hi everyone!! I've met my 6 month of documented weight loss ( I have Anthem) passed my psych eval and meet once more with my surgeon this coming Friday to make the final "plans " ( I'm still undecided if a sleeve or RNY is what I want to do). Then off to insurance. I have no comorbidities but have a BMI of 52, so hoping that's enough for a YES!! I, too, have met my deductible and am hopeful I can get in before the year is up.

Wow, so glad I am NOT alone!

I am still a bit panic about getting approved. My BMI is 39-40 with sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I am hoping that is enough. Ins. can be such jerks and since I started this process I am so excited about the NEW me to come and I have yet to get my approval. If I do not get approved I will be devastated to say the LEAST! I know...bla bla bla. Just have to vent since I am now obsessed with getting this approved..total geek that I am.

I know what you're talking about. My BMI is 39.7 and I have hypertension, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes and arthritis. I believe that will be enough for me to get approved...but you never know. Just trying to stay positive. I have my first visit with the nutritionist this Friday....and the journey begins.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
