So I went for my second nutrition appointment today and then had my endoscopy done. During my entire wait time I began to think why am I really don't this?

I don't really have a desire to do the pre-op diet and I'm pretty sure that one of two things are going to occur after the surgery: 1. I'm not going to eat at all 2. I'm going to go back to my old eating habits, which are not completely awful.

Today my nutritionist gave me a face because I told her in talking two tablespoons of a liquid Vitamin. I really wanted to tell her where to go, but at in silence. I have zero time to exercise right now and easy to survive.

How do you know if this is something you truly want to do? My fiance is Furious with me and is borderline ready to leave if I don't get my health under control. Thoughts??

Jezika, this is a very big decision, it has to be for you and no one else, if your are having second thoughts you have to decide if you are going to be able to accomplish this. You do not want regrets. Take the time to decide if this is really for you

Good Luck

Sharen

at 5'3" and 318#, your BMI is 56.3, which is considered super obese. Sever obesity (depending on the study you look at) reduces your life span by 10 years. I've no doubt your boyfriend is concerned for your health.

However, this is a very difficult and personal decision. Nobody can tell you what is best for you. What if you fail? What if I fail? But ... what if we don't? Nobody WANTS to do a pre-op diet. In my case, I wanted to be healthy more than I didn't want to do the pre-op diet. Sometimes life is hard, but you CAN do hard things ... even if you don't want to.

Good luck making your decision.

I'm just starting my journey and I can completely relate. I do nothing but research all day long (ie.. how I came across all of you wonderful people) I go back and forth all day in my mind. My family is anything but supportive mostly just fear of complications. But i do agree that we have to make the choice for ourselves. don't let anyone push you to do it if you aren't ready.. but don't let fear stop you. Remember (as I remind myself) anything worth having (a better life, feeling healthy, feeling better about ourselves) is never easy, but always worth it when you reach the end.

Good luck no matter what you choose!! Just be happy

I have done this in the past...I wanted to do the surgery but I backed out and went on the behavior track(we have behavior and surgical track). Look I am back and definitely going to do this now. I think you have to be mentally ready and want to change your ways. I should have done this long time ago cause now I have real problems with my knees and back. It all caught up with me and eventually it will catch up with you. After my surgery and heal I have to go for another surgery after all this to replace my knee before going back to work next year. I am ready to be healthier and lighter!

Good luck making your decision and it's all up to you no one else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
