Symptoms no one told me

Recommended Posts

I am writing this so that some poor soul like myself does not have to wonder. I started pre op Clear Liquids three days ago. I am a nurse and work 8 hrs on my feet hardly ever sitting down. Well on day 2 of my liquid diet i noticed my legs were sore when i got home. On morn of day 3 i could barely get out of bed. I felt like i had run a marathon. Muscle soreness, cramps and just pain. It was so bad i had to take a vicodin. I thought well i have to call my dr. But got busy and did not call. Guess what pain and soreness gone now. It had to be just my body getting used to starving? Anyway i know our bodys are amazing machines created by God and it never ceases to amaze me ????

Way to go getting through -- and it sounds like your body is detoxing. Maybe more Water to help flush out your system and reduce any lactic acid build-up, etc? Best wishes to you....exciting times!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
