I'm going to be an aunt!

Recommended Posts

I just found out this weekend that my brother's girlfriend is pregnant. It was a huge surprise. He'd just broken up with his girlfriend of a few years (they had even bought a house together) in December and started dating a new girl in January. So, I got to meet my future sister-in-law (they had talked about getting married before they found out, so decided to go ahead and do it) for the first time the night before I found out that she was pregnant. Apparently, she's due around the first of the year. Just call me Auntie Lauren!

Just imagine---that niece/nephew will likely never remember Auntie Lauren as being heavy!!! I love that my youngest grandbabies, will never remember me at my heaviest! And you will be up to chasing him or her when the time rolls around!!

Congrats to your family!

Congrats, I know you are so proud.

I have one granddaughter who is 2 and the light of our life then my daugher found out she is 5 months pregnant again and had no clue. No period because she was told she couldn't have any more and no need for bc pills. Anyway, it is due first of October and then my son found out they were pregnant 2 weeks ago and I went and bought boy and girl come home from the hospital outfits because it's due Christmas week. I thought 2 newborns at Christmas and my 2yr.old where will I put 3 carseats in the back of my grand prix and then my daugher inlaw starting bleeding wednesday and they admitted her and my son and I never left the hospital until yesterday when they told us she lost it. We've been devastated. Cheerish your little one.

I know they'll probably have more but it sure it heartbreaking.

Hi Lauren, That is wonderful news. I am an Aunty to my sister's nine year old twins and it is lovely. I get all the fun and none of the responsibility!:) Susannah

Congratulations, Lauren! Do they live close to you, and will you be able to see the child often? I hardly know my niece and nephew because they live on the Left Coast. :( Have fun!

They live in Memphis, which is about 7 hours away from me, so I won't be able to see them very often. (Which is actually a blessing, since I am not super-fond of kids. I get sick of them easily.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
