My doctor said not to do baby food. It doesn't have enough of the nutrients we need as adults. Same as children's Vitamins and gummy vitamins. The good quality stuff for adult women is not available in that stuff. pureed isn't hard. Buy a Magic Bullet. They are so worth it! From pureed to smoothies. I've used mine for 4 years now. Still love it. If your veggies are too dry when you puree them put a little bit of veggie, chicken or beef stock in it. Same thing with your meats. If they are too dry add broth. They sell it at Safeway. It's in the broth section and called Organics. REAL food is more nutritious for you. We need to eat to live, not live to eat. I used to be pretty little. But, 3 kiddos later and major medical drama with 2 of them, I put myself last. Now, it is time to get me back!

New to fourm...I am not able to keep any food down! Frustrating is the fact that I continually try and eat. scale hasn't moved this week. Post op since August 1 and 60 pounds lighter but saddened at the fact I may never enjoy food again. I keep telling myself "this is what you signed up for" .

If you are not keeping foods down then maybe you should connect with your doctor. Being this far out you should be able to.

@@cfiesta oh no that's no good @@motherof5 is correct you should definitely contact your doctor. This is NOT what you signed up for you should be able to keep food down. Don't think that vomiting is going to be your new way of life because it's not how it's supposed to be.

Are you practicing mindful eating? Chewing slow, taking small bites? Listening to your tummy when it's starting to tell you, you're full? I haven't had vomiting happen to me but I did have a lot of foam come up the first time I ate baked chicken again being greedy.

I went to the phantom gourmet food festival today and I had lobster rolls (without the roll of course), and oyster cerviche and my tummy loved it. I was excited because I got to eat veggies for the first time and all went well!

@ I heard that about the gummy vitamins but baby food? Thanks for the tip. Trader Joes has these adult Gummy Vitamins that I used to take and my NUT made me stop, because even those were no good.

gummies aren't digested very well with sleeves and they aren't considered a high potency Vitamin. I figure that since we have these spendy little tummies, we might as well put the best stuff possible into them. My nut said that it is kind of like putting bad gas/oil or not maintaining a Bentley. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
