1.You have to continue to watch your weight after you get to goal.

2.It is easier to get pregnant while you are losing weight.

3.Your feet will most likely get colder your first winter after surgery than before surgery.

Don't buy more than one or two bras, for the first 6 months, your girls will be in different sizes and it'll be be sad when your pretty bra doesn't fit anymore. Lol. Oh and try not to compare your weight loss with others, it will just make you frustrated. Remember this is all for you :)

Thrift shops are great for clothes (be choosy and wash before wear). It's low price so I don't feel bad for wearing for only a few months.

Follow your pre and post op diets to a T. They are designed for your health and safety. You will feel very empowered with confidence once you make it through without cheating.

Don't weigh yourself everyday. In fact, twice/month for the first 3 months is plenty . It will save you the frustration of stalls. If you stick to the meal plan you WILL lose weight. Measure your success by NSV's, how your clothes fit, and how you feel.

Stick with thrift stores until your weight stabilizes or you will be out a lot of $$$$.

Eat until you are satisfied, not full.

Be excited! Document! and be ready! like the ladies have said, your body is going to change and fast. hold off on buying clothes. have some panties in smaller sizes available. I had to use a binder clip at work cause mine kept falling and I was wearing a dress..... ughhhhh weightloss problems lol!

Stay active. For the first 6 weeks you wont be able to do any ab work or weights, but walking, using a treadmill, biking are all great ways to help the body adjust and keep things toned.

HYDRATE! take it easy don't gulp, but definitely keep hydrated. I got sick after surgery and ended up not getting enough fluids and back in the hospital I went for an IV

take it easy. Don't rush things after surgery. we are not superheros. I learned the hard way. I had some complications, nothing major, after surgery because I went right back to work (2 jobs) right away. I pushed myself to hard. Lesson learned. Listen to your body. It will tell you what you can handle.

Take advantage of your nutritionist and support groups. They will be great resources and a great way to bond with others who have had the same experience.

clothing exchange will become a great friend. don't be weirded out about switching clothes with strangers. you will save TONS and if like myself, I have donated clothes with tags still on them. you go through things so fast that its not worth spending money. I did however invest in leggings, sweaters, and Kimono tops. those will adjust with me and with the help of a belt, I will get more use out of them.

good luck and best wishes

Don't buy a bunch of Protein powders ahead of time. You won't know what you will like until after surgery. Something you like before surgery might taste awful to you after surgery.

Don't worry if you can't get all your Protein in at first. Concentrate on drinking liquids that you can get down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
