jbauman13 9 Posted October 5, 2014 My throat only hurt for a few hours. My dr was checking for anything that looked abnormal so he knew before surgery what was there. I ended up having reflux.
tinagatorfan79 7 Posted October 5, 2014 If you have reflux can you still have the surgery or does that disqualify you
Shiloh0772 57 Posted October 5, 2014 Yes, you can still have the surgery.
Mommabird 367 Posted October 5, 2014 RNY was recommended to me partly because of my reflux. It doesn't disqualify you.
tinagatorfan79 7 Posted October 5, 2014 That's so great yay I'm still doing my clearances I only have my pulmonologist clearance left then I see the nutritionist on the 20th & then see if my Medicaid approves it I live in Florida I have amerigroup medicaid I'm so nervous about the approval process I hope everything goes well
bobby88 10 Posted October 5, 2014 It's super easy and fast. My husband and I were there maybe an hour and the actual procedure only took about 15 minutes. I also have terrible reflux and it does not disqualify you. My surgeon does it as a precaution to make sure everything looks good in your stomach before you actually have gastric. I only had a scratchy throat afterwards.
tinagatorfan79 7 Posted October 5, 2014 Ok cool I don't think I have reflux I've never had a problem so we will see I'll let you know when get home from the endoscopy. Do you know if they use general anesthesia? My Dr. Said they will have me under General anesthesia?
Betti Boop 21 Posted October 5, 2014 I had my endo last week. They had me gargles with lidocaine. I had no sore throat at all. They injected the versed and it was lights out for the next hour, slept like I had had 8 great hours of sleep. Oh baby!
