tyt221b 63 Posted September 17, 2014 I had my six month appointment at my surgeon's today. All my numbers were good, but the nurse practitioner asked me how much Protein I was getting. I told her that in the last month I've been getting between 80-90 most days, and she told me to back it down to around 60 because I wouldn't lose weight with that much Protein. Except that I have been losing weight. What are your thoughts on this ?
lose4life2 152 Posted September 17, 2014 Well I'm a week from my surgery but my doctor has said we will need between 60-90 grams of Protein a day. So that's all I have for you.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted September 17, 2014 The direction I received was to take 75-90 grams of Protein each day following surgery. When I had one of my early appointments with the nutritionist, she actually told me to increase my Protein intake because I was on the low end of that range and I should strive to be closer to the high side. winning_by_losing 107 Posted September 17, 2014 That sounds like an odd recommendation. if I recall correctly, in my program, we were supposed to go for 45 the first week, 60 the following 5 weeks then 75 per day from then until eternity. While I normally wouldn't recommend straying from what the professionals recommend, if you're having success with what you're doing now and there were no negative issues during your checkup, if it were me, I'd continue with what has been working. Wmwallace 7 Posted October 1, 2014 I was told between 70-80 grams daily. Pre-op I am using that amount with three shakes daily and four oz. of Protein every evening.
