lady lana 2 Posted May 7, 2007 Hi, I am scheduled for surgery on the 10th and i am coughing a lot, have chest pain and am stuffy and mucasy...i plan to call my doc in the morning to let him know, but i am wondering if there is anyone out there that got sick before their surgery and had to get it postponded or did they give you quick meds? Cuz i requested time off of work and have been on the pre-op diet since tuesday...i am worried that they will cancel it or something...maybe it will go away by thursday... FocusOnMBM 0 Posted May 8, 2007 You should not have surgery when you are sick and I'm sure the Dr's will tell you that. If you have a high temperature they will not operate on you. Better safe than sorry. It's done like this for a reason.
ShayDee 0 Posted May 8, 2007 When I went last week to my P.A.T., I was sick as well with the same things.. and they asked if I felt like I was getting better or worse, what color my phlem/mucus was and if I had been running a fever and told me to drink plenty of liquids to flush out the mucus from my chest and make sure I take a decongestant to clear it up as much as possible before surgery BUT if I got any worse to call and let them know such as a fever, sinus infection etc.. but I don't see why they would call off my surgery if I didn't have a fever or if I just had a common cold due to allergies or whatever.
