I am approx. 1 month out down 16 lbs and while id hope for more it's ok bc I'm hitting minimum 60 grams of Protein and no less than 64oz of Water. My body is holding onto everything for now. Taking my Vitamins too, no issues. Only issue is I am exhausted!! My muscles seen fatigued. I practically fall asleep at work. Is this too, my body adjusting?

Hi you mentioned that you are taking all of your Vitamins are you eating enough food, how many calories are you taking in per day? are you eating every three hours or at least 6 smalls per day? I know when I stared eating every 3 hours small meals that my energy level increase, speak with your doctor or nutritionist, because I am almost 4 months post opt , I work out 5 times per week and never go over 900 calories in a day. Congrats o your weight lost and remember your body is still adjusting to the new changes. Keep us posted my friend.

Thanks cupcake you are very helpful! I see my doc tues and my nut in a few weeks. My but and I have been communicating. Ya know if have to say I'm well under 1000 calories, but I've been focusing on my Water and Protein perhaps I should up the calories slightly. Maybe that is the source. I've been getting to the gym once or twice a week pitiful, I do walk everyday for 30 minutes, but I know that's not enough. I'll log my calories tmrw as I do with my Protein and Water. Thanks so much!

I can truthfully say I have not had fast food , chocolate, chips dips or anything bad at all. Is my body just in shock that it's holding into everything?

Ortega07 yes your body can be in shock because it is still adjusting to the new you, your doctor may up your calorie intake but make sure that you are eating enough try, eating small meals like if you eat Breakfast at 0800 and then at 11:00 you should be eating something again if its not nothing but string cheese, or a half of Protein shake or bar. Or perhaps 1 ounce tuna , chicken, or turkey slice. Or even sugar free applesauce. I have increase my Protein to 100 grams per day and it has prevented me from several stalls as well as I am steadily loosing weight 1-5 pounds weekly. I focus on more on protein, Water, and exercise. You will get there it just takes time for your body to adjust to the new you.

Since you are getting Protein, Vitamins and Water I agree that it sounds like you need additional calories and rest. Bodies heal at different rates and I know that I was napping for a month after my surgery. (I had it in the summer so I could rest as much as possible as a teacher.)

Now that I am back to work, when my calories are low, I am tired. I go home from work and eat and then literally rest and then get ready for bed. Our bodies are doing some amazing adjustments. I made some little switches which was that I didn't eat low calorie greek yogurt, but the regular kind, regular cottage cheese instead of non fat or low fat and that was all I needed to give me more energy and calories.

You could be low in Vitamin B12 also. When mine was low I was so fatigued that I couldn't stay awake. Dr. put me on once a month injections and I have been fine with the food changes and added B12.

It wouldn't hurt to ask about it!

Let us know :)

I am three weeks post op and I can't keep my eyes open. I'm starting to get scared! I manage to get my fluids in and most of my Protein but it's really hard. I go back to work next week and just don't know how I'm gonna do it! Am I the only person with this problem?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
