ilovebread 0 Posted September 16, 2014 My doctor's office submitted my FMLA paperwork today by email, at my request so the fax didn't get in to the wrong hands, and the medical assistant copied me. The FMLA paperwork is very generic and doesn't mention the WLS, but her signature line says it in big bold letters! I'm kinda ticked off because I didn't want anyone to know what surgery I was having. My HR person has to keep it a secret, correct? She can't tell anyone? She is friends with my boss and I'm afraid she'll say something she shouldn't.
old_rn 110 Posted September 16, 2014 Yes they have to keep it private. I was concerned too because I didn't want a lot of ppl to know so I ask her when I was in her office. So rest easy and don't worry about it. You have enough to deal with right now. Good luck
waitingtoexhale 174 Posted September 16, 2014 I would definitely run that "hippa" act by her as well as the consequences in case she don't know....
Cupcake 801 Posted September 17, 2014 If she tells anyone not only will it cost her to loose her job but your employer can be sued. Congrats on your choice to being healthy.
DeeJack08 522 Posted September 17, 2014 They sure could lose their jobs if a word of it is mention to other employee. Lawsuit time it will be
poginut 112 Posted September 17, 2014 They better keep it a secret, if not they will be violating this law named HIPAA!
mh97686 7 Posted September 17, 2014 Question- what are you telling your boss that you are going out for? I'm in the same situation and would rather be private
Kathy812 794 Posted September 17, 2014 @mh97686- I know your question was not posed to me, but I told my boss "I'm having surgery and it's personal & I expect to be out two or three weeks." He wished me well & didn't ask any additional questions. He couldn't.
