Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 16, 2014 I take it your surgeon didn't give you any guidance on when you could eat salad or other raw veggies? It really makes me sad to see people who are left to flounder around and seek advice on the internet from strangers because their surgeons don't provide basic information to them. I wasn't cleared for any kind of raw vegetables until six months post-op, but my team is very conservative in this regard.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted September 16, 2014 You should always follow your doc/NUT instructions for introducing foods. I am 10 months out and I can only handle finely chopped romaine lettuce and only about 1/4 cup at a time. Raw veggies and fruit can cause me great discomfort...I ate some fresh cherries a few weeks ago and was in excruciating pain! You need to listen to your body when you reintroduce foods. I was sleeved in Tijuana and I will say that is the one thing that has been a disappointment! However I do feel that people who have lived through this experience are a pretty good source of information as long as you take into consideration your own situation and how you feel! I generally try a little bit of something new and see how it sits and go from there!

raychel74 22 Posted September 19, 2014 It took me 5 months before I could eat salad without it acting like a diarrhetic. I was so happy to have it back in my life
Cerika111 5 Posted September 21, 2014 I can eat about a quarter cup of salad, but then I can't eat more than a quarter cup of anything - and even that leaves me stuffed! My head still tells me I want more, but my tiny tummy rebels! Beats the heck out of having almost 40 pounds back on me though! I have almost. 40 to go to goal, but what a difference already. johnsydney 65 Posted September 21, 2014 I'm 5 weeks out and just had some nice crisp lettuce with some grilled fish. Lovely, went down a treat I normally take a small salad of cherry tomatoes and cucumber to work with a boiled egg. I have no problems as long as I chew reasonably well.
