The only thing at 8 weeks that bothered me was apple. I think I didnt chew it up good enough. No problem with apples now.

I take it your surgeon didn't give you any guidance on when you could eat salad or other raw veggies? It really makes me sad to see people who are left to flounder around and seek advice on the internet from strangers because their surgeons don't provide basic information to them. :(

I wasn't cleared for any kind of raw vegetables until six months post-op, but my team is very conservative in this regard.

You should always follow your doc/NUT instructions for introducing foods.

I am 10 months out and I can only handle finely chopped romaine lettuce and only about 1/4 cup at a time. Raw veggies and fruit can cause me great discomfort...I ate some fresh cherries a few weeks ago and was in excruciating pain! You need to listen to your body when you reintroduce foods.

Unfortunately no, I got a very basic post op diet! I was sleeved in Tijuana and I will say that is the one thing that has been a disappointment! However I do feel that people who have lived through this experience are a pretty good source of information as long as you take into consideration your own situation and how you feel! I generally try a little bit of something new and see how it sits and go from there!

I can eat about a quarter cup of salad, but then I can't eat more than a quarter cup of anything - and even that leaves me stuffed! My head still tells me I want more, but my tiny tummy rebels! Beats the heck out of having almost 40 pounds back on me though! I have almost. 40 to go to goal, but what a difference already.

I'm 5 weeks out and just had some nice crisp lettuce with some grilled fish. Lovely, went down a treat :) I normally take a small salad of cherry tomatoes and cucumber to work with a boiled egg. I have no problems as long as I chew reasonably well.

That's awesome Erika!! I'm down 51 so far! I've had my struggles, and nothing statisfies my taste buds but the results are worth it! Glad to hear your doing good!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
