Fox-E 27 Posted September 16, 2014 When can I have coffee again? Even Decaf? I guess the good thing is I'm no longer craving pizza but coffee instead. I haven't had it in 6 months!
Miaoreo 134 Posted September 16, 2014 I have drank coffee from day 1 after surgery... not in the massive quantites I used too! Just one or 2 cups a day. Your new stomach will tell you if it likes it or not.
mommab4 2 Posted September 16, 2014 I had Decaf from day
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted September 16, 2014 I started at about 6 weeks. My doc really wants people to wait 6 months, but I never had any intention of doing that. My dietician says people who drink coffee in the morning are hungrier in the afternoon, and it may be true, but I don't care. You just have to make sure you avoid it with Iron and Calcium supplements, otherwise they don't absorb as well.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted September 16, 2014 You should check with your doctor - as with everything else, different doctors have different thoughts on coffee. Some sleevers were given coffee in the hospital after surgery. Some docs, like mine, made me wait until 3 months, then made me pinkie swear that I wouldn't go back to drinking 5-6 cups of caffeinated coffee per day. I'm at 10 months and I enjoy 2 cups of real coffee and 1 cup of Decaf every day...it's heaven in a cup!
marfar7 1,533 Posted September 16, 2014 The hospital served me regular coffee with my first "meal" (Water, Protein shake, coffee) right after my leak test the day after surgery. While I'm a coffee fantatic, it didn't sound good for about 4 weeks. My dr says 1-2 cups of coffee a day is fine. He doesn't want to take away all of my vices. Good luck! There could be worse things ur craving!
KayleeC14 159 Posted September 16, 2014 I am ten months out and I drink on occasion 1-3 cups of coffee depending on the day or week. Some weeks or months I can go without. Unlike today, this is a three cup day. Stayed up way to late last night. What I do different than what I use too is use fat free Creamer and a splenda packet. After drinking coffee I normally drink A LOT of Water like over 64 oz. I would just listen to what your gut says, coffee that early for me made me sick. It took me up till nine months to finally get back to drinking coffee again, but not on a regular basis.

FairySleeve 297 Posted September 16, 2014 I was on IV for 4 days after surgery and once I passed to scan, the hospital offered me a cup of coffee or tea, so I asked for coffee (pretty sure it was Decaf lol). My doctor didn't give me any restriction on coffee, I drink 1 cup everyday after that but mostly decaf.
