I am scheduled for surgery near the end of nov. I am very excited. But kinda wish it was here sooner. Anyone else looking for surgery in November?

I'm going to my 6th Dietician appt. next week, Insurance only requires 6, but actually 7 months prep. After speaking to my nurse, she is trying to get me in for November 10th, otherwise it won't be until November 17th (week of Thanksgiving). I too..am nervous and excited...dreaming at night of being able to trim/paint my own toe nails, and fit into nice cloths, at 50..I need all the help I can get.

Hi eclectick..... I'm 50 also. Definitely do you think about all the things I'll be able to do once I lose this weight. I have 100 pounds to lose to get to goal but will be happy with 80 to 90 if that's what I get 2. I can't wait to go on amusement rides Water park horseback riding long walks swimming and being comfortable in a bathing suit being able to stand up from the floor without help and many more things. My kids are excited for me to be able to do all these things also. Even though I'm 50 I have 12 year old twins you still keep me very busy . Keep dreaming and everything will be here before you know it

12 Year old twins..wow..you have your hands full. I am a twin myself..my other half is a male.

I dream alot about how nice it will be to do many things, but being healthy is number 1 for me. I am not sure if these feelings are normal but I dream and get excited about it..but then I get depressed and beat myself up and wonder what happens if the surgery doesn't work for me......I am putting the cart before the horse (per say). Sometimes I want to cry because I am so excited but in the same time, I am crying because I am so mad at myself for getting to this place of obesity. Believe it or not, I passed my Psych Eval.....I have so many un-answered feelings but....I won't get the answers I need unless I jump...right?

I supposed the closer it gets, the more freaked out I am getting!!

My dearest Eclectick -

Have you looked in a mirror today - do you see that face looking back at you? That beautiful woman is you.

You need to remember that you are not alone on your journey and you will be successful.

Don't be mad at yourself - it is not going to change anything. I decided a while ago that I wanted this surgery for me - I also want to be healthy. Don't dwell on the negative.

I am not going to spend anymore time being mad at me for being overweight. Have I made choices that weren't the smartest - well yeah, but some of those choices have made me who I am today. Besides the point, I like my little personality flaws - they make me, well, Me.

I am going to put my soapbox away now. Be safe and stay strong you beautiful wonderful woman!

Ditto on the above post. eclectick don't beat yourself up. All of your emotions are normal. Of course there's going to be highs and lows during this journey. It's a major life change. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't put so much thought into it. Read as much as you can learn as much as you can and this forum is a great place for support. Keep hanging out here and you'll find a lot of great contacts with a lot of great advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
