Having a Gastric Sleeve IS EXHAUSTING!

Recommended Posts

I am at 3 months, and it has been as you say, "exhausting"! I have lost but only cuz I could'nt eat or drink without feeling nauseated. I am so happy that I have lost the weight, but it has not been any picnic! It has gotten better, but I still battle with the nausea at every meal. I agree with kimpossible67 that this is no easy way out. I am just hoping that the nausea goes away soon, and I can just concentrate on the basics.

I must add, that I have found a couple of different types of drinks to add into my rotation.

To the chocolate Protein powder, I make it with skim milk and then add 2-3 Tbsp. of creamy Peanut Butter, then blend it up!

The other one I make is with the unflavored Protein Powder added into V-8 juice. I use room temp V-8, mix in powder, then shake and pour over ice.

I did try a couple of fish sticks for dinner tonight, chewing them very very well. They went down fine, but now just seem to sit there. Any thoughts?

@@Selina1000 is that your first solid meal? If you are coming off of Soups and whatnot it's gonna feel weird. And is going to sit in your tummy for way longer than a bowl of Soup. Try something else soft to see if it bothers you. It could be that the fish sticks just did not agree with you.

I was just ranting about this yesterday. There is SO MUCH to keep track of and try to space out appropriately throughout the day. Early on it was mostly just the Water. An ounce every 15 minutes. Aim for 64 ounces a day. Wait a second! You want me awake 16 hours a day right after surgery!?!?!?

Now that I'm actually eating foods it's so much more to manage. Need to eat 5-6 times a day. Can't drink before, during, or after eating. But still need those 64 ounces! Oh and don't forget to take pills 5 times a day now. A Multivitamin with every meal and Calcium between meals. Plus all your other medications and supplements. Plus the antacid I need to take every 24 hours for the first two months. I'm keeping track of this stuff like it's my job! Too bad I'm also supposed to be working full time and I was supposed to start cardio up again yesterday (which I did)!

@Forsyitha-- It was actually the 2nd time I had a fish stick. The first time, I was full, but felt OK, I kinda think I may have eaten too fast. Either way, today I went back to Soups, thinned instant mashed potatoes, and liquids. My Doctor has my schedule at puree'd stuff & liquids for 2 weeks, and I pushed the envelope with the fish at a little over a week.

@Jamielogical-- I know what you mean about trying to keep track of everything. I have decided that I'm human, and I will miss keeping track every now and then. I try to make sure I get the Protein I need, as that is most important to keep my body healing quickly, water/liquid comes next, and I take my vitamins/RX at night before bedtime as my Dr did not require me to take Calcium in between every meal. I only have to take 2 chewable Vitamins, B-12, (my 2 normal RX) and I was able to stop my Pepcid if I didn't need it. I have had to use it off and on. I see you're about a week ahead of me, my surgery was on the 10th, and yours was on the 1st. I'm thinking I will have a tough time getting back into regular food again, how are you doing with introducing foods back in?

I started on pureed foods last Thursday. So far I've done pretty well. A whole scrambled egg is a little too much still, but I do okay with as much of it as I can eat. I've also had cottage cheese and other soft cheeses, refried Beans, shredded chicken in sauce, and I've tried tuna salad twice now. The tuna salad has been the hardest because it's really dry and hard to eat without being able to wash it down with some Water. Next Monday I get to start on other soft foods like ground meats and Beans. I am so hitting up Wendy's for some chili that day!

It's weird how some things work one day, and then "no-go" the next. Yesterday I had tuna mixed with mayo, went down fine, so I tried again today, and "no-go". I got about 2 bites, and it feels like it's sitting at the top of my throat. Anyone one else come across this?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
