I still haven't has my surgery yet but I was reading about the puréed stage and I'm officially freaked out. I can definitely do like baby food but fruits. The thought of meat puréed literally makes

Me want to puke. How can I do this stage, get all of the nutrients I need, and not puke lol thanks for any help

I did puree meat but doctored it up a lot. Yes, just tossing some meat into a food processor with Water or even broth is gross (IMO) but if you can be a little creative it is quite doable. I would puree meat with some flavorful sauce, then usually heat it up in the microwave in a little ramekin with some cheese to melt on top. It came out tasting like a casserole and I really enjoyed it. Some of my favorite combos:

--ground beef with BBQ Sauce and cheddar cheese

--shrimp with buffalo sauce and blue cheese

--chicken with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese

--turkey with peanut satay sauce and jack cheese

--salmon with lemon dill sauce and peccorino cheese

--pot roast with curry sauce and Swiss cheese

--chicken with hoisin sauce

--tuna with olive oil mayo and cheddar cheese

I also did a lot of refried Beans with hot salsa and pepper jack or cheddar, Shelly's ricotta bake:

and Greek yogurt with Peanut Butter stirred in.

I had fun with the foods on pureed stage, plus I managed to get all my Protein and more in every day. Good luck to you!

Thank you Bufflehead. I like your ideas, and they all seem so easy. I have ground turkey already separated into small servings. I have refried Beans (which I heat with a pinch of cheese). I have found any Soup (commercial or homemade) tolerates well - easy to puree, too. I have all the ingredients for the ricotta bake - time to make it!

Baby food meat is gross. Bland and gross. Purees was my most hated stage. Have a Greek yogurt or refried Beans with some melted cheese. But for the love of all things holy don't do baby food meats. Ick gross Ick.

There is also unflavored Protein powder you can put in stuff like Soup, apple sauce, pudding.

We skipped the puréed stage altogether. After we were able to get down 64oz of Clear Liquids, we could have high Protein food. (Cat food like) wet so it would go down easy after chewing 40 to 50 times per bite. At day 4 I had a 1/4 cup not quiet full of Wendy's chili. As long as we chewed like we we're suppose to it was better than puréed. I didn't do carbs till after 6 months. We able to break our carb habit from the beginning. I still don't want to eat carbs because I will gain wt after just a few carbs.

I just started and last night I had about 3oz of fajita chicken, some pico...(tomato, onion, cilantro, and peppers) a little cheese and a tablespoon of sour cream and blended it up....it was amazing. Mostly Protein and veggies and a little sour cream to make it puree....but it was awesome...it made about 4 or 5 oz....so it lasted a couple meals.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
