Leena 108 Posted September 20, 2014 My stricture was at 1 1/2 weeks. I was admitted, observed for a day and then scoped. I was on ivs to hydrate and vomitting bile. I was NPO for 4 days. Surgeons can scope early and dialate the opening. Yes after dialation you start over on the phases. I had surgery July 8th and im still on soft foods. Some days I have to go back to liquids and purees. Get into your doctor and get the endoscopy. It can be done as a same day procedure if youre healthy. If you wait too long you'll be spending days there. I was in for 4 days.
Whitar10 13 Posted September 20, 2014 I went to my surgeon on tuesday and i have to wait until this Tuesday for my scope. Ive been on liquids with some difficulty for 8 days. They are thinking i will need multiple scopes about a week apart. Im just hoping for the best.
tebowfan 70 Posted September 20, 2014 My surgeon has an X-ray like machine you stand in front of and drink some white stuff and they watch it go down. This is how he initially knew what was going on, cause the liquid stopped at that area. I hope it only takes one time, but it sounds like they are just giving you worse case scenario. I can't wait til you feel better.
Whitar10 13 Posted September 25, 2014 I had my dilation. It went well however i have another one oct 7. The opening was smaller than a pinhole. They removed all sutures and arw guessing i will need up to 4 dilations every 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks for the support. I was soo nervous but now feel back to normal!! tebowfan 70 Posted October 8, 2014 Oh wow, I am so sorry! I do pray you will get relief soon! I went through something like that with the gastric band. It was squeezed so tight I could only keep Water down. I had lost down to almost 100 lbs, before getting rebranded and of course now I have the bypass. Please keep me updated and let me know how you are. I'll keep Ya in my prayers
Whitar10 13 Posted October 8, 2014 Thank you. My band experience was wonderful until the day it slipped. I had lost 115 pounds then over night my life changed. I am down 45 pounds now and another 85 until my goal weight. This too shall pass they only think 2 more but its no longer in my hands
tebowfan 70 Posted October 9, 2014 So you do know this feeling to well. You are doing great and it seems like the doc does know what he's doing. He doesn't want to over stretch it out, if that is even possible. Hang in there! Another month and this will be a memory. Like you said, this to shall pass
Whitar10 13 Posted October 20, 2014 I have my 3rd dilation tomorrow. In talking to my surgeon if this doesn't work they will need to do another surgery. I am feeling discouraged and let down. I am 8 weeks post op and lost 51 pounds but am terrified of a 3rd surgery in less than 9 mos. Hopefully tomorrow works
