Looking for Surgery Buddies 9/24

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm 22, married, No kids, from Va. I started my liquid diet today and I'm having surgery next Wednesday the 24th. I'm looking for some friends my age who are having theirs around the same time.

Having a Vena Cava Filter put in tomorrow morning which is kind of scary. I've lost 52 pounds on my pre op diet. My hw was 398 and my cw is 347. I'm 5'8.

Hey there!

I'm 22 also and wow I also live in VA. How did your surgery go yesterday? I will be having mine November 11th. I'm having a lot of trouble staying focused and have to lose 20lbs before November comes. What was your pre-diet like? Also if you don't mind me asking who is your surgeon? I'm doing mine through va bariatric with dr. Fitzer.

Hope to hear back from you!

-Leah

Hey sorry for just getting back to you. The first two days were rough. Surgery went great. My surgeon is Scott Watson in Johnson City, TN.

I used weight watchers for the first 40 pounds, cut out all soda, anything with more than 10 grams of sugar per serving, low carb. Then i got stuck in a stall so i switched to 1200 calories a day, sugar free. For the last 20 pounds, home now and recovering well

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
