Surgery turned me into a preteen boy!

Recommended Posts

I was told yesterday that I now look like a prepubescent boy....no butt, no boobs, no hips. Not to mention I had an endometrial ablation years ago, so no period. Any suggestions on how to complete the transformation? I'm thinking I need to start farting more, learn how to play video games, and go ahead and wear all those jeans that are too big without a belt to keep them up. Geez, talk about lifestyle changes!

As the saying goes...opinions are like a**holes , everyone's got one. If you feel great then it is great. If you want to look more feminine then dress more feminine but if you are happy in the clothes you have then you are fine. Don't let anyone else's opinions change how you view yourself. Thin is in and you are right there in the mix.

It would sort of be nice, after losing 100 pounds, to move somewhere new and deal only with people who didn't know you before and don't burden you with their issues about how confused they are by the fact that you're not obese anymore.

Sheesh!

Honestly, I wasn't offended by the comment. It's true and pretty funny. I spent the last 30 years dealing with big boobs, a huge ass and bulging thighs. I will gladly spend the next 30 wearing boy shorts with pride. My inner woman has not been threatened at all.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
