Nutribullet, Magic Bullet, Other?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! Now that I've progressed to the "try out some shakes before your upcoming liquid diet" stage, I'm thinking I'm going to buy something to help make the shakes as tasty as possible. Can anyone share what they use to make shakes, aside from a plain old Blender Bottle?

TIA!

I have both. The magic bullet is more of a basic smoothie machine. You def want the Nutribullet or similar that Emulsifies all seeds/ Nuts/ Veggies etc to get all the nutrients. I use the magic bullet for basic Protein Powder shakes with ice, frozen fruit n the such.

Same here. I use the Nutribullet for everything. I am currently in the puree stage and it works perfectly. I also use it for my chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Shakes.< /p>

How r u digesting the raw veggies n fruits from the shake? What else r u putting in them during your 2 weeks of purée? I go in Tuesday, so I'm trying to get as much prepared today n tomorrow, just made a pot of creamed Soup that I will purée in the Nutribullet, separate n freeze.

I got a NutriNinja after I read a Consumer Reports testing that said metal shards broke off the NutriBullet blades when using it with ice (which it's not intended to handle, I guess).

I use a Bella Cucina Rocket Blender, Patinum Edition.

. Someone gave me one several years ago and I have been making my shake with it for the past two years or more. After surgery I found out that it purees my food really good too. I found the best place to buy one is on eBay or Amazon. I like them so well I bought one for work and one as a gift

My wife made me a chicken stew that I put in it and it worked out great. One thing I really enjoyed though was chicken broth and cooked chicken breast in this little machine. Came out real creamy and had to dilute it with more broth but was really great. Works great with frozen fruit too.

Now that i am on regular foods I only use it for an occasional shake.< /p>

I use "Better Than Bouillon" low sodium, for broth. Great all by itself.

They also say this one is easier to clean than the Nutribullet but never tried it or the Magic Bullet.

I have a Ninja blender. It is great for shakes but I would not recommend it for smoothies. It does not do well with a lot of frozen fruit or ice. If I am making a smoothie, I have to use an ice shaver.

With my plan I am not allowed raw veggies only cooked. So far I am just doing the creamy Peanut Butter. I did put a small piece of banana one time. My NUT suggested a little pineapple in my cottage cheese.I did puree a little piece of chicken with some cream of chicken soup and it was good. I had to add more broth because it was too thick.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
