lodum 0 Posted May 6, 2007 I just had my lap-band surgery on Friday. I'm feeling pretty good. A little soreness and gas pressure from the gas used during surgery. I'm having a tough time sleeping on my back because I'm too sore to sleep on my side. I'm not hungry at all, so I'm doing okay with liquids. Totally grossed out on the Advantage vanilla shake yesterday, but liked the chocolate one today. I thought I'd be able to go to work tomorrow, but now I'm thinking i will be too sore. Hope the weight starts falling off!
SillyWillyMommy 2 Posted May 6, 2007 Hi lodum!!! Glad to see you up and posting so soon after surgery. I am scheduled for banding 5/16, which is a Wednesday, and I was going to go to work the following Monday... But I'm not sure yet, I may just take a day or two more. Glad to hear you are healing well! Welcome!!
Devana 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Welcome lodum! Congratulations on your surgery. Keep reading and posting and remember to follow the bandster rules.
Lindsay47 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Iodum, Congratulations... and give yourself some time to heal. You will be fine.
lodum 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Thanks for all the responses! Devana, I hope I didn't break a rule already....
Devana 0 Posted May 6, 2007 I mean the rules about eating and drinking. I know things work better and the weight comes off faster if you don't drink with meals, etc.
lodum 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Thanks Devana. I thought I'd broken a board rule! I'm trying to do good with the liquids. yesterday I had a hard time getting much of anything down, but I'm doing better today. I plan on following the rules to a "T" so I can do the best! Let's see if I can keep that pace up!
HelenC 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Congrats The weight may come off quick, or it may take awhile. Either way, you're losing it, so don't worry about it. Follow your doctor's orders exactly, even if it gets tough. This board is great support!
NicksWife22 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Hi lodum!! Congrats! I am VERY VERY curious to see if you do go back to work tomorrow and how it goes. What's your job? Reason being... I go on Friday for my surgery and I 'have to' go to work on Monday. (desk job) So please let us know how tomorrow goes and keep me posted on the recovery details!! Thanks! lodum 0 Posted May 6, 2007 I have decided not to go to work tomorrow. I think I need another day. I have a desk job too. I probably could go back if I had to, but would be uncomfortable. Of course, i also haven't taken any pain medicine today.
Johnsonlin 1 Posted May 7, 2007 NicksWife22, Hi - I have a desk job - was banded on a Tuesday. I could have gone back on Thursday if I had to and, in fact, logged in from home and did some work from there. I didn't go into the office until Mon., but I COULD have. Good Luck! I would expect you to be fine!
NicksWife22 0 Posted May 7, 2007 Cool, thanks! I just don't want to be in severe pain. I can stand some pain!
Johnsonlin 1 Posted May 7, 2007 You should NOT be 'pain' - you will be a little tender and perhaps even moving a little slowly, but should not be in pain by then...
lodum 0 Posted May 7, 2007 I thought I would provide a follow-up now that it's Monday. I probably could have gone to work today. But, since my job is one where I can also work from home, I chose to stay home today. I'm a little sore (like doing too many sit ups), but getting around pretty good. I'm still having the gas discomfort, but not as often anymore. I agree, walking is the key to getting rid of the gas discomfort.
NicksWife22 0 Posted May 7, 2007 You guys are the best! Atleast now I have an idea of what to expect. Did you guys have a flight home or was your surgery local? I'm dreading the 6 hour flight from the west coast to the east coast. Atleast then I can be on pain meds and just sleep! Thanks so much for the update lodum!! Let us know about how you feel in a few hours. LOL
