I am 17 days post op... Anyone chewing gum or is that a no no?

I chew gum without any issue, it's not like it gets swallowed !

My post-op instructions say not to chew gum because it can get accidentally swallowed. I thought that seemed dumb considering how often I swallowed gum before the surgery (never).

I have never swallowed gum by accident but I would be so embarrassed of having to go the hospital because I swallowed it by accident and having it stuck to my sleeve that just that will keep me away from it for a while.
