LeslieLee, yes, I did go by myself. I flew out on Tuesday, had surgery on Wednesday and flew home on Friday. The flight back was pretty good, better than I expected. The shoulder pain made it a bit uncomfortable but definitely manageable. Can'r wait for you to be banded too. It's awesome!

Congrats Janice. I too was banded by Dr. C in 12/06. Try a massage therapist for the shoulder pain -- 30 minutes and it was GONE!!!

I am traveling to Edmonton for my daughter's grad in Athabasca. Looking for recommendations on B&B places to stay in Banff or Lake Louse. Any ideas?

Welcome back. Hopefully the gas will subside shortly. Walk it off, and try a heating pad to relieve the discomfort.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm starting to fill kind of human again - finally! The gas pain is almost gone and the incisions are starting to feel better.

I've noticed a weird pain in the throat/chest area especially first thing in the morning. It feels like a suppressed burp. It only lasts a couple of seconds. It's hard to explain but it's just a strange spasm or something. Anybody else felt this?

All-in-all I feel pretty good since it's only been 6 days. The liquid diet has been no problem, I'm not really hungry. At first I had to try and recognize a stomach hunger growl over the gas growls because I truly have not been hungry since surgery. Very happy so far!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
