send2steph 26 Posted September 14, 2014 I'm wanting to stop taking my post-surg pain meds because they make me so tired. But there's shoulder pain is pretty intense. I've tried heat and ice... They help, but only while being applied. My surgery was on Thursday and today is Saturday night. I hope it's gone by the third day, but if not, is there any other advice out there? sylvia45 29 Posted September 14, 2014 I had my pain for about 4 days it will go away 12 days ago I feel great. Keep taking your gas ex ,, it will get better . One thing I tried was moving my arm in around to move some of the gas inside . That seem to help .
newlifejen 32 Posted September 14, 2014 I found a massage therapist that did chair massages. The one where you sit in a chair and lean forward and the massage therapist works your neck and back only. It was great because you aren't laying on your stomach. It was a HUGE help. I told her I had laparoscopic surgery and she spent a ton of time working both shoulders. It was 30 minutes and I have had zero pain since. Hope you get relief soon!
Texaslatina 13 Posted September 14, 2014 Mine finally ended 5-6 days after. The heating pad seemed to relieve pressure. I actually slept with it over my stomach. Felt wonderful. Good luck!
send2steph 26 Posted September 17, 2014 Just to tie this up... Five days out and it's mostly gone. Heat and laying flat helped me.
MrsNLB 1 Posted September 19, 2014 Mine lasted close to a week. Laying on it was my only relief. Everyone told me I needed to exercise to push the gas out, it helped a little, I can honestly say the shoulder pain was worse then having banding done!!
bodaciousBev 18 Posted September 19, 2014 I just got home from my band. Walk, walk, walk. I got home at 430 and walked right away 5 times around my livingroom and used the breathing thing. It really helps. I have been doing little burps. Getting Gas-x and pain med now.
Vittacov47 0 Posted September 19, 2014 Hi I too just had surgery, I'm 3 days post-op. I know exactly what you mean about shoulder surgery. It is slowly resolving but still hurts. I decided not to take anymore pain meds as it makes me too drowsy, hard to get up especially in am. Feel better. I'm just trying to get through this liquid phase! igotthis98 41 Posted December 3, 2014 Hi - Today is 12 days post surgery and I am still having horrible, horrible shoulder pain. It actually comes in the afternoon around 2pm and then lasts until I go to bed. I am back at work so I have been doing plenty of walking. I don't have any other types of gas pains. I bought a heating pad to use while at work at as long as I have it on it will help it a little but it doesn't go away fully. Is 12 days normal for this pain? briefs199 337 Posted December 3, 2014 I had the same thing. It lasted for 2 weeks then poof! It was gone
igotthis98 41 Posted December 3, 2014 Ugggh - well then I cannot wait for my "poof"!!!! haha I believe I have read other people saying that the shoulder pain was the worst part about getting the band, and I must agree!!!
send2steph 26 Posted December 3, 2014 I also agree. The shoulder pain was the worst part. Mine wasn't 12 days but I will concur that it just all of a sudden wasn't there. One day it is, the next it wasn't. Hope your "poof!" comes soon!
